3- Having my doubts

Hey honey, you back?" Evy's mom asked aloud when she closed the door.

"Yes, mom" she answered, her back and moved her feet towards the kitchen.

"How was your school?"

"Usual" she said to her innocently but as it is said, nothing can be hidden from a mother so her mom instantly knew that her school went better than usual.

"Of course, honey, your gleaming eyes say that school was fantastic." to which she stuck her tongue out.

"Uh, mom, I have invited Hailey and Max to hang out. You don't mind, do you?"

"Of course, not"

"Love you mom" she took an apple and ran to her room.

Evy's room is the favourite part of her home. It is not that huge neither it is small. It is covered with beautiful lavender colour wallpaper which has white floral print design. Middle of her room is her comfy bed. On one side of her room is the study table which is attached to her bookshelf. On the other side of the room is her dressing table. Unlike other girls it is not loaded with hundreds of cosmetics items instead it is just filled with basic stuff that every girl needs to have. On the left side of her room is a big window. But unfortunately, her window doesn't show her a beautiful view of a beach or a sunset or sunrise instead the view outside her window is the house of the famous Edward Loraine.

Anyway, keeping her thoughts aside Evy sat on her comfy bed with her laptop resting on her thighs and the pillow supporting her back. She opened the best social networking site which connects you to the world, Facebook. When she left Woodstock, Evy deleted her Facebook account due to her insecurities, but when she pulled herself together and started with new life, she activated it again.

When she opened her account, it was filled with messages, notifications and friend requests. First, she checked her notifications and then messages.

Messages were from a few of her friends asking her about her first day at Rosewood and how there were missing her. So, she replied to their messages filling them little about her day here. Last but not the list she checked friend requests and it was filled with hundreds of them. She is not lying neither she is exaggerating. Before a year she hardly had ten to fifteen friends on her list and now whole school wants to add her.

Interesting!

Evy accepted everyone's request. It actually took her an hour and a half to accept all of them but that's ok. She was kind of enjoying this.

Knock knock!

"Come in!" Evy said loudly.

"Heya" Max greeted.

"Gentleman as always" she smirked. But Max was looking around her room as if he was searching something... ...Or she would rather say someone.

"Hailey will be coming in half an hour. She had to pick up her little sister."

"Okay, well, I didn't ask for her," He was scratching the back of his neck.

"Oh, come on Max, you don't need to lie to me. I know that you like her." his eyes were wide.

"I just met her today." he tried to defend himself, but poor guy always forgets that he can never win an argument from her.

"Yeah, right, that's why you were giving her your famous hugs." Evy rolled her eyes.

"Well, I don't know why I did that and anyway she is too good for me."

"Well, I think you both are perfect for each other. In fact, you both will make a cute couple and both of you are single also." Said suggestively.

"She is single?" shock took over him.

"Yeah, she never had a boyfriend before, remember I told you. And you should go for her. I mean come on, you are waiting for a right girl and she is waiting for a right boy, maybe you both are right for each other."

"Maybe you are right. I should finally start looking for a girlfriend." he said while rubbing his temple.

"You don't have a girlfriend?" Hailey suddenly blurted out of nowhere.

"Oh yeah, never found one, how about you?" Max asked

"Same here, well, I can't have a girlfriend you know" raising her eyebrows.

"Well, you can have one, you know if you are..." Max tried to mimic her.

"Ha ha very funny, I am very much straight."

"I was just suggesting." he shrugged

"By the way Evy, your mom asked you to come down in five minutes to get the snacks." Hails informed her.

"Well, I better get going now" she ran downwards, but before she could enter the kitchen, she heard the doorbell.

Unlike last year, instead of hanging out with his friends, Eddy went straight home after school. He locked himself up in his room. He looked across from the window to have a sneak peek into Evy room, but she had drawn the curtains. She never closes them, but messages was clear that she needed space. He opened his Facebook account and thought of adding Evy to his friend list. When she left Woodstock, she deleted her account, but he guesses as she is back so she might have activated it.

He thought for a minute and decided to send her the friend request. He was a bit apprehensive about the situation and was staring at his laptop for quite some time, but still there was no reply. When he was about to give up, he had a notification which said that his friend request was accepted by Evelyn Brook. He took a deep breath. Eddy was glad that she at least accepted his request. That's a start right.

After fifteen minutes or so Eddy's mom called him down and asked to deliver the cupcakes to Mrs Brook. He took the cupcakes and made his way towards Evelyn's home. Her mom and his mom are pretty good friends and so are he and Evy. Well they were before he goofed everything up.

He pressed the bell and waited for the door to open. He was secretly wishing for Evy to open it and luckily his wish was granted. Evelyn was standing in front of the door with nothing but shorts and a casual loose tee shirt with a frown on her face. She looked adorable.

"Mom asked me to give this cupcake to your mom." He told to her. She looks down towards the cupcake and there was glint in her eyes. Evy always had a soft spot for sweets. She loves them.

"Mom, Edward is here to see you." without giving Eddy a second glance she rushed to her room. She didn't even spoke to him, just ignored him.

"OH, it's you Eddy." Mrs Brook came towards the door.

Eddy gave her the cupcakes and was about to leave when Mrs Brook stopped him.

"Edward, why don't you come and join Evelyn, Max and Hailey for their movie marathon?"

"Uh no thank you Mrs brook, I have some work to complete" he immediately made an excuse.

"Ok! And Call me Ella; you are family and as it is Mrs Brook makes me feel old."

"Ok Ella"

Eddy left and went to the nearby park. He sat on the bench. He was speechless. Every year on the first day of their school Eddy, Evy and Hailey used to have a movie marathon. But instead of him, Max was continuing their tradition. Well he did break their tradition last to last year as he ditched them for his new friends but never once he thought they might be hurt by his action, like he is now.

He even didn't like the way Evy acknowledged him. He felt like a stranger. He does remember once when he treated her the same way when she came to his home to pass a massage from her mom to his. Eddy didn't want his friends to tease him or know for the fact that he cared about the beautiful nerd standing in front of his house. But to his dismay all his pals started laughing at her. Well he did want them to take it as a joke but he never thought it would have hurt Evy so much.

Situation was same but the only difference was that now the tables have turned.

Now he is really having his doubts about the theory of Karma.
