Evy was lying on her bed and music was blasting in her ears when her mom entered her room.

"Hey sweetie" she said with love.

"Hey mom" Evy sat up and removed the earplugs from her ears.

"Well, I wanted to inform you that, Stephaney has invited us for dinner, so we have to go to theirs."

"Stephaney as in Edward's mother?" she asked her dumbfounded.

"Yes, Eddy's mother, so be ready by 7, okay?" she confirmed.

"Uh, oh yeah, okay."

Unbelievable. Now she is stuck with that moron. Weird, right her mom calls Eddy with his pet name but she prefers to use his full name now after what happened a year ago.

Any ways she cannot bail on this dinner as it will be rude to do it. So, let's just get over with it.

It was almost 7 and Evy was ready for the unfortunate dinner. She wore a black one piece which was simple and yet classy. It has a silver lining on the round neck of her dress. She also wore silver slipper below it as she was not in the mood to wear heals. She wore a bracelet on her one hand and a watch on her other hand. It was a simple bracelet that Max gifted her on her last birthday. She put up only a minimal amount of makeup. With that she was ready to go.

Evy walk downstairs where her mom and dad were waiting.

"You look beautiful princess." her dad complimented and kissed her forehead.

"Thank you so much dad." she hugged him.

Evelyn loves her dad to bits and pieces. He has been her bodyguard who always protects her from demons.

It hardly took them 2 min to reach as a Loraine family as they live opposite to their house.

Her dad knocks, the door and Edwards's dad, Louis opened the door.

"Well, welcome. Look who do we have here? Evelyn." he said happily.

"Hey, Louis." She greeted him.

"Come on inside people. It's lovely to see you Evy, after a year, "he told her.

"Louis is right Evy; you have grown into lovely women in this past one year." Stephaney agreed with Louis.

"Thank you so much Stephaney. It's great to see you both after a year." she told them politely.

"As polite as ever." Stephaney smiled.

After a few words of exchange, they all headed inside and sat on the couch. It was great seeing them after a year. After a few minutes or so her gaze started looking for Edward.

Maybe he is not there. She really hopes so.

Well! Never expect good things so soon. Here comes the jerk in all his glory.

"Hello Ella and Danielle." he greeted her parents.

His eyes met her gaze and he instantly smile.

"Hey Evy." he greeted cheerfully.

"Hey" Evy said with a curt nod.

There was an awkward silence. Their parents sensed that so to cut the awkwardness they decided have the dinner. They all were sitting on the dining table. Their mothers and fathers were sitting across from them. That means Edwards was sitting beside her.

"So Evy how was your old school back there." Louis asked Evy.

"It was really good. The people there are amazing and very welcoming." She told them with a big smile on her face.

"I heard one of my colleague's sons is your best friend? Am I right?" he asked.

"You might be talking about Max. Yeah, I met him on the flight during my journey there. We have been inseparable since then. He is best guy friend any one can ask for." she spoke about him proudly.

"Well, that's nice to hear, that someone was there with you to full fill your father and my main duties."

Louis has been another father figure to her since her childhood.

"So, any boyfriends Evy" Stephaney asked which cause Edward to choke.

"Nope"

"Nonsense. You might have dated at least a few guys there."

"Yeah! I had been asked out a few times and went on a few dates. But nothing serious." She gave her half-truth.

She did have a boyfriend back there, but things were not working out so they broke up.

"Well, that's good then. Maybe in the future, you and Ed might go out." Stephaney said happily.

This caused her to choke.

"What?" Evy asked her flabbergasted.

If she said this 1 year ago, then it might be a different story but not now.

"Yeah, honey. You know ninety percent of times best friend turns into love birds. And you and Edward know each other since childhood." She tried reasoning with her.

"Oh, okay. But it's not possible. I mean me and Edward. Weird! Ha-ha" she said awkwardly.

After this whole dinner Evy sat in silence and ate her food. It was a bad idea to come here. She tried to keep to herself. As soon as she got an opportunity she left for Lorraine's house. She was getting pretty uncomfortable there as whole time Edward was staring at her. So, she excused herself from there and went home. Evy gave a lame excuse about teachers giving them lots of homework.

Evy was looking beautiful today. She never liked to wear dresses. She always prefers to wear jeans or tracks and baggy shirts.

Dresses suit her.

Today dinner was pretty awkward, especially after his mom's suggestion or rather her wish to see him and Evy together. The statement rekindles Eddy long, deep feelings for her that he has pressed deep in his heart. Her reaction hurt him. He felt as if she was disgusted to think herself with him in future.

Everything is gone wrong. Nothing seems right. Not once there was awkwardness between him and Evy but today was altogether a different thing. He misses his best friend.
