The Plans
Lanie was still entranced by Jackson’s kiss and her head was reeling. It was hard to focus on work and not him and not running into his arms for another long, steamy, hot passionate kiss. That was out of the world, the best kiss she’d had since her last boyfriend in college. He had a way about him that Lanie couldn’t get enough of. She was enthralled by his words and the way he talked, mesmerized by the way he looked, she couldn’t get enough of him. For once in her life she had a reason to be happy , something to keep her going, with everything she knows she still fears for her life and if Lester ever found out that she knows she would be killed sadly. She would try her best to put on her best poker face and continue to pretend not to know anything. She was beyond happy to know for once someone had her back and looking out for her and for once she felt safe. It was nice to have someone to turn to who cared, someone to confide in and tell her every secret. Jackson was in his office. He was on the phone with the Boone Police Department trying to get a hold of his friend Luke Langston who was a private investigator. He waited as the phone rang, Langston answered the phone, “Luke Langston, P.I. How can I help you? Hey, Luke, it’s me Jackson. I need your help with something. I have some troubling news about a friend of mine and I want you to follow up on a kidnapper for? Kidnapper? Langston repeats the question, dude what did you get yourself into? So, my friend was kidnapped and is still with the kidnapper and has been since a young age of four. This guy is really bad, and he’s on the most wanted list and to top off he’s a leader of some group called the Hardee Boys. I know the Hardee Boys. I've been watching them for some time now, nobody can catch these guys anytime we try to somehow escape. I’ll keep my eye on this guy for you and keep you informed, Luke stated. Is it possible to get my friend under some protective custody like having an officer maybe female? Yes, I actually have a friend at the department who would be willing to help, when do you need her? As soon as possible Jackson expressed. Okay I’ll ask her and get back to you. Thanks Luke, no problem buddy, bye.” Jackson hung the phone feeling more relieved that he asked his friend for help and now Lanie would be placed under protective custody. He knew they had to be very careful with this plan especially with a cop being around. Somehow, he had figured out how to get her to blend in and not stick out like a sore thumb especially around Lester. Him and Luke would have to put their heads together and think of a good plan and how this would be in their favor. Jackson came out and Laurel was with customers, so he waited until she until she was done, when she was finished with her last customer Jackson came and told Lanie to take off the rest of the day and to go relax but to be careful, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close to him and kissed her. There it was fireworks, explosions, sparks that lit her up to her inner soul, the made her feel like a woman, she felt in places she hadn’t in a long time, this kiss was longer than the first, it sweet, hot, and passion, made her loins ache for him. Lanie kissed Jackson one last time and left, he watched her walk out feeling like she already missed her. Lanie gets in her car and heads takes the back way and heads to the grocery store to go shopping she pulls into the parking lot and looks for a spot she finds one and parks and heads in taking her list with her, she had a ton of stuff to get items, like milk, sugar, eggs, meat, vegetables, yogurt, fruit, wine, water, and some dessert items of the chocolate variety. Her cart was filled to the top and she double checks her list and heads to the checkout line, she waits for a line of people that are before her, when it’s her turn she pays and leaves and the cart to her car and loads up the trunk closes it and heads home, she wanted to get in some down time until her father headed home. Meanwhile, downtown in an old abandoned warehouse that used to be a clothing factory it’s been cleaned out and now stands empty and is being used as The Hardee Boys hangout. Lester was fat, short, and was balding, and he brown eyes and was wearing torn shirt and sweatpants, was sitting around a big table with the rest of The Hardee Boys devising a plan to rob the Boon National Bank downtown which was a mile from the warehouse which made a quick getaway. There was a national holiday coming that celebrated the founding of the town Boone which was named after the founder. There was going to be a big parade in honor of Daniel Boone every shop, restaurant, bank, and all the local businesses would be shut down that day. They knew doing it that day would be perfect because everyone would too busy watching the parade to be concerned with what they were doing, they were going to disable the alarms, and video cameras from a laptop, someone would sneak in and take of the security guards, and they would sneak in from the back door and rob the bank. “So, it’s all settled then everyone knows their parts and what to do right, Lester asked in a firm tone? Yes sir, The Hardee Boys all answered at once.” Luke was outside standing on a trash can recording what Lester and The Hardee Boys said, he finally gave them this if he thought excitedly to himself these guys are down! He carefully got down off the trash cans trying to be ever so quiet, he walked to his car and drove back to the police department feeling accomplished with the evidence he just got. Now to tell the police so they can come with a plan to take these guys down. Luke was driving back to the police station when picked his phone to dial his fellow female officer’s number to see if she would do him a solid and help him out with something, he dialed her number and rang and rang, finally a female voice answered Officer Dunn here, “hey Daphne it’s Luke I’m the PI for the police department I was wondering if you please help me with something? That depends on what it is Luke she answered. Can you help please? I will of course Like you better give more to go on than what you told me, Daphne said. I promise to meet me for dinner at the diner, I’ll be there at eight. Okay Luke see you then bye.” He hung the phone and drove to the police department, pulled into the parking lot and parked his SUV. He locked it and walked into the department to tell Lieutenant Dupris about what he found out. He walked down the hall and went straight to his office which at the back of the building, he knocked on the door, a voice came from inside and yelled, “come in, it’s opened. Luke walked in, the lieutenant told him to sit down, what brings in here today Luke? Well sir, Luke begins I was downtown at the old clothing factory and I was listening carefully and heard the plan made by The Hardee Boys, they are going to rob the Boone National Bank in two weeks during the Founders Day Parade, I have it recorded too, sir. Well Luke, said the lieutenant that’s some fine work you’ve done, now we plan to bring these guys down. Here’s how we do it, the real security working at the bank will get the day off, you and some of my finest undercover officers will pose as security guards, and when we have them where we want them, we bring in backup to help take him down. UMM…, sir there’s more, I have a good friend that knows someone who is in trouble and in the clutches of Lester Green and fits the description of a missing girl that was taken years ago, here’s the thing she is here in Boone, and word has it that Lester is the kidnapper, right now I’m working on getting this person in protective custody, sir I feel like I’m over my head on this one I don’t what to do. First off Luke let’s keep this info just between us till we can find out more about Lester and I promise we’ll get our chance to question him. Go and get this person in protective custody as soon as possible and let me know right away if something changes. Yes sir, thank you for your time.” Luke shakes the lieutenant’s hand and said goodbye and walked out and went to his office. He went to his laptop and went looking for missing girls to follow on some old news reports to see if he get some good leads that would help tie Lester into the kidnapping of Lanie, he looked all day and part of the evening until eight pm, he looked at his watch and cursed, “I’m late to go meet Daphne, he leaves the department and drives to the diner and parks in the street, he locks up and goes into the diner and sits down in a booth, he looks for Daphne but she hasn’t shown up yet, his phone buzzes, he looks down it’s text from Daphne, “I’m sorry I’m running late on my way be there soon. Luke texts back, ``it's okay I was late to be waiting for you Luke, bye be safe.” Officer Daphne is in her cute little blue Mini Cooper speeding through town trying to get to the diner, she gets there and parks behind Luke, she locks up her car and heads into the diner, Luke waves her over. “Hi Luke, hi Daphne, would you like something to eat it’s my treat Luke offers, sure thank you she says graciously, she looks at the menu, the waitress comes over and takes their orders, they both order burger, fries, and a milkshake, the waitress takes the menu and puts their order in. “I have this friend named Jackson who has a girl that works for him, she’s in danger she lives with a very bad man who kidnapped her years ago when she was four and now, she is living here in Boone with her kidnapper and goes by the name Laci Green which is an alias, the man she lives with is bad he’s wanted for kidnapping and robbery. She needs to put under protective custody if this man, I chose you for a reason, you’re good, smart and one hell of a good shot, I chose you’re a girl and would easier to connect with, the plan is this you protect her at work, home and wherever she goes, but the thing with watching her at home is Lester if finds out anything Lanie could be hurt or even killed. I found out there's a house down the street from the Green house rent is paid in full by the police department. You watch her from there but please be very careful. I will, I’m like a chameleon and I know how fit in without being seen, I know Daphne I trust you completely, just be safe, if something happened to you on my watch, I would never forgive myself, don’t worry Luke I’ll be fine trust me, I promise you I will check in with you, thanks he said that makes me feel better.
