Chapter 6

"Oh my gosh—"

I turned to where it came from only to see Mitsume with widened eyes, staring on our hands.

I felt my face heated up and I immediately let go of Yohan's hands.

"I-I just helped him out..." I defended myself but I stuttered.

"Karewa daredesuka?" she crossed her arms in front of her chest as she asked who Yohan is. (Who is he?)

I pushed Yohan closer to where Mitsume is standing.

"Uh... He's Yohan, a classmate of mine." I answered then I turned to Yohan to introduce Mitsume, "Yohan, this is Mitsume, my friend."

She smiled at him before facing me again, "And I thought you were going to grab something to eat?"

"I just got back and I just saw him here," I said then I held Mitsume on her shoulder, turning her then I tilted my head to face the clueless Yohan. "Let's go." I said before pushing Mitsume back on our table.

"Oh, you're back." Shawn smiled upon seeing me together with Mitsume then he noticed Yohan following us from behind, "Esquival! It's been so long since the last time we saw each other," he greeted Yohan with a smile plastered on his face and the latter only nodded at him.

See? See the difference between the two is too big.

"Did you invited him?" Shawn asked the moment we sat back on our chair, Yohan sat beside him. I was about to answer when he spoke again. "I'm glad you finally accepted someone's invitation other than mine." he said, patting Yohan on his shoulder.

"What..." I let out a soft chuckle as he misunderstood it, "I'm sorry to disappoint you but I only happened to stumble on his feet." I said with full honesty.

Shawn scoffed at Yohan, "You suck, man."

"Same goes with you," Yohan responded as he rolled his eyes on Shawn. I see... they're close. Well, it's a good thing because all this time I thought Yohan is an outcast.

The three of us went back on studying while Yohan stood up to get books.

It did not took him long to find the books he will need. I wonder if he always go here because he seems like he had memorize where the books are placed.

I took glances at them from time to time then I caught Mitsume writing down the other important keys from the book. She's always been like this even when we were still studying at Japan.

Hours later, we all decided to pack everything up since the closing hours is about to come and they haven't eaten anything yet for the past hours as they were all too focused. Especially Yohan who's doing his best to keep up with us.

"Where do you guys want to eat?" Shawn asked upon exiting the Newport Beach Public Library, "My treat."

"I'll go wherever your choice is," Yohan shrugged.

I was about to say the same thing when Mitsume suddenly butted in, "Mc Donald's! I have been craving for their Artisan Grilled Chicken ever since we got here."

I nodded on what she said and we all ended up inside the said fast-food chain, standing on the side as we browse their menu.

"I'll have a Premium Chicken Bacon Clubhouse, Chicken McNuggets - Meal and a Sweet Tea," Shawn said to the cashier then he faced us.

"Artisan Grilled Chicken, Bacon Ranch Salad and a Sweet Tea for me." Mitsume said her orders.

"Premium Roast Coffee and a Bacon McDouble," Yohan plainly said.

I scoffed at him before saying my orders, "Big Mac and a Buttermilk Crispy Chicken for me along with Sweet Tea as well."

"Is that all?" the cashier asked upon repeating our orders.

"Oh, can I add three Large Fries? Thank you." Shawn added.

"I'll just look for a table," Yohan volunteered then he walked away.

"I'll go with him," I said without thinking twice before following Yohan.

"Hey," I said, sitting on the chair in front of his. "I'm curious..."

"On what?" He raised a brow at me, leaning back on his chair.

I scoffed, "You're really mean."

"Yeah, yeah." he rolled his eyes on me. This guy!

"Anyway," I started, resting my chin on my hands while staring at his dark piercing eyes. "I'm really curious on the reason behind why you always sleep anywhere with a book covering your face..." I said, still staring at his eyes. It's as if drowning me...

"It helps me escape from the chaotic reality." he said then he stared back at me.

"How come?" I asked then I sit properly, ready to listen on what he will answer.

He was about to answer when he was interrupted by Shawn.

"Woah, we could feel the intense of your conversation from the waiting area." he jokingly said and I saw Yohan on my peripheral vision, he sighed. In relief, I guess.

We were talking about random things while we were eating and Shawn even joined us on saying "Itadakimasu" before eating but he keeps on saying "Itakimas", the reason why Mitsume's frustrated as of the moment.

"It's I.. ta.. da.. ki.. ma.. su!" she said for the nth time.

Yohan and I were just watching them as we are busy eating.

"Itada... kimasu? Itadakimasu! Itadakimasu!" Shawn said and I could hear Mitsume sigh in relief.

"Good job! Good job!" Mitsume complimented while they were both clapping their hands.

We continued eating after that according to Mitsume, "Japanese 101 with Mitsume sensei" session.

We even stayed for a couple of minutes to rest after eating before we finally decided to go home.

"I had fun with today! Thanks to the two of you—" Shawn faced Yohan when he corrected him, "You're not included, stone man."

"It was nice meeting you, Shawn and Yohan!" Mitsume said with a wide smile plastered on her face.

"Same goes with you," Yohan plainly responded.

"So, we'll get going. Thank you again for today!" I said then we bid our goodbyes and goodnights before we walked on opposite directions.

"They are fun to be with, I hope I'm on the same class as you..." Mitsume murmured out of the blue while she was looking up on the night sky.
