“Yapendo!”Sumayya and Anisa came running to me. Hamma Muhammad's children.

"My babies.” I hugged them both.

"How are my babies doing?" I asked of their well-being.

"We’re fine.” They replied and ran off

"Hamma Muhammad Good evening.” I greeted.

"Basma? Jam naa? (How are you)”

"Jam koo dume hamma (fine, thank you brother)”

"Aunty sanaya.” I also met my brother's wife. I hugged her tight and we exchanged greetings. Soon the house was filled with my siblings and their children.

"Wato ke baki so kiyi aure ko? (So you don't want to get married huh?)” Adda samira brought up the topic I hate the most. They’re all getting on my nerves.

"Adda please don't start." I pleaded

"Hey she's telling you the truth, before you know it, it will be very difficult for you to get married.” Adda minayat added. "Do you guys think it's easy to find love?" I questioned. "We're just advicing you.

"We know it's not easy but try and stop being arrogant to boys for once.” Adda samira said

"Okay fine, I'll try.” I said. It’s not that. I’m just scared of men.

"Dinner is ready.” Umma announced. "My umma cooks the best food yo!" Badiyya said rubbing her hands together. "Thank you dear.” She chuckled.

We all settled down and ate together. They were all gisting while I was lost in my thoughts. Ok, now what do I do? Should I wait for the right guy to come or I look for him?

"Basma!" Abba interrupted. Abba only calls me basma when he's being serious. "Yes abba.” I looked up. "What's wrong with you?” Everyone’s attention came back to me. I felt uncomfortable with their looks. "Nothing abba." I shook my head no, smiling. "Are you sure?" He asked again.

"Yes abba I'm fine.

"Then why are you not eating your food?" umma asked. Why can’t they just let me be.

"I'm not hungry." I stood up to leave. "Good night." I added and leaving. I jumped on my bed and immediately started my water works. Why are they pushing me to do what I don't want to do? Can't they wait for when I'm ready? “Oh my Allah help me" I muttered still crying.

I knock interrupted my reverie. "Go away!" I sniffed. "Basma it’s me, umma. I want to talk with you please.” She pleaded. “I don't want to talk right now please." She came in anyway even though I said no

"Honey are you alright?" Umma asked. “Yes umma I'm fine" I replied. “Then why are you crying?"

I couldn't say anything.

"Am asking you, why are you crying?"

She asked again. I kept mute. "Is it about what your father said last night?"

"Yes umma it is.” New Years cascaded down my cheeks.

"You are all stressing me out, I don't want to disappoint you, but you keep pushing. When I'm ready I'll surely bring someone. What if I bring someone that is not good enough?"

She pulled me close and hugged me very tight.

"My dear all will be fine Insha Allah. Just be wise and do what you think it's right, be smart. Whenever you are ready honey we're all here for you and we'll support you on it, okay?"

"Okay umma thank you.” I nodded.

"Now wipe your tears and come downstairs, your siblings will be leaving soon.

"Okay umma I'll be down in a sec." I quickly went to the bathroom and washed my face. I went downstairs to say goodbye to my siblings.

"Aunty basma when will you visit us too.” Anisa said with her tiny voice and cute smile.

"I’ll visit very soon Insha Allah, I promise." I said smiling at her.

"Yay!" She squealed. "Just think about what we told you." adda samira whispered to my ear. I nodded with a straight face.

To be continued Insha Allah✨
