Chapter 4

If anyone could slap me right now, please, I beg to be slapped! I don't know what was gotten into me but one thing's I'm sure, this wasn't right. Being close to her... to a woman to be specific was the last thing I'd do.

After everything that has happened, I'm surprised that I still haven't learned my lesson. Everything was just too fast. At one second, I'm fighting with myself, thinking of the consequences, reminding the inner me about the promises I made to myself then, one moment, I just lose...

Like my mind just turned black that I can't seem to think straight. To think that I just met her...

I stopped myself from yawning as the end credits crawl on the big screen accompanied by the noise of turning on the light. I squint my eyes, adjusting to the light after being stuck for almost two hours in a dim room. We just finished a movie, it wasn't that interesting. Well, it was Alex's choice so...

I mentally shrugged. My eyes went to the table in front. It has paper cups and three boxes of pizza, the other two were left untouched.

"I will just tuck her to bed," I looked up to Lexin who just stood up, then turned my gaze to Alex, who was sleeping soundly one seat away from me.

"Do you need help?" I offered, playing with my fingers.

She gawked at me. "I can manage. You can leave the stuff there," she pointed at the table.

I waved my hands. "I refuse to, I will clean it. You go and tuck your daughter to bed, she looked uncomfortable.

I stand on my feet and let out a small smile. Nothing much happened and I was kinda uh... disappointed? I mean, I wanted to talk to her at least. But for the whole duration of being together here in a small room, we never had the chance to talk. It was all Alex...

"You sure?" She eyed me suspiciously.

Humming, I nodded. "Cleaning is one of my expertise." I winked naughtily.

Our lips hang open. Even I was shocked at what I just did! I must be gone crazy. Blinking my eyes, I darted my gaze to the table, then start picking up the trashes, slowly. Damn... please ground, swallow me now. I can't take the embarrassment anymore.

I'm dying inside thinking about it.

"Sorry, something caught my eyes..." Oh my god, Aya! This is so freaking annoying!

Why do I love putting myself in shame! In front of her! Lexin whom I heard laughed at my lame excuse! I bit my lower lip to stop myself from crying in shame.

"I... I should go," she coughed, trying to stop herself from bursting. But I could still hear her small laughs!

I glared at her. "Alex would wake up. Be quiet,"

"Oh, right..."

Rolling my eyes, I scoffed. This was the only way that I could think of to hide from the embarrassing moment. Being rude...

Girl, this would linger in my mind for days. It would cost two or more sleepless nights until I can move on from this situation. I must prepare myself for bugs and dark circles under my eyes starting today. I just can't understand why I love putting a show in front of her.

I wasn't like this hours ago.

"I'll be back," she assured.

"Yeah, yeah..." I waved my hand, dismissing her. I don't care if she finds it rude or not. I must save myself.

When she got out of the movie room carrying Alex, my legs got wobbly that I subsided slowly on the ground. I drew a shuddering breathe then groaned silently. If I don't want this to happen again, I should stay away from her real quick!

That isn't the answer but meeting her stressed the hell out of me! If I could erase this part in our memories, I would definitely do it.

"Hey, you tired?" My eyes widened in shock when I heard her voice.

I think my heart just pounded in fear. She caught me here, hopelessly sitting on the ground, pulling my hair while mumbling things I don't even understand.

I hurriedly stood up, then tuck my hair behind my ear. "That was fast..."

"Alex woke up on the way to her room, she's downstairs. Need help?" She walked near me and my feet automatically step backward as if she would do something bad!

I started to panic. When she stopped and looked at me, I stopped, too. But I can't look at her! I just stared somewhere, in the ceiling... On her forehead, and anywhere but her eyes!

Whenever our eyes met, I just got drowned. It's scary, knowing the fact that I can't swim enough to save myself from drowning.

"Aya..."

"How'd you know my name?" I wanted to know. If my memories serve me right, I ever told her my name.

"You're the girl next door," she uttered, still staring at me. "I must know my neighbor, right?"

I felt my body hair rose up. She's giving me creeps.

"I think I should leave," I backed away slowly. "I still have things to do, Lexin. Would you mind if I leave leaving those trashes?" I pointed out the table.

She hummed then, walked again in my direction. My lower lip is trembling not because of fear, but the fact that I might do something that we both will regret in the end. If she's this close, I might not stop myself from doing the things I wanted to do to her since I saw her in that silk dress.

"Don't come near me," I breathed heavily. "Please..."

"Why?" I closed my eyes at how sultry her voice was. It was so low, it sounded like a moan to me.

The back of my legs hit a hard object. I looked at it only to see the single sofa. My insides were screaming when Lexin reached for my face, making me look at her. Her eyes went to my lips, as well as mine. I almost leaned on when she licked her upper lip right in front of me!

"I wanna kiss you, Aya..." she whispered softly.
