Section 2: Re-encounter 'Xiaoya'

After graduating from college, 'Xinya' followed me to 'Pujiang'.
She is kind and virtuous, occasionally with a little temper. She is naturally sensitive to money; she cares about a few things, but every penny can be spent just right. I know how she feels; although money is not everything, it can bring a sense of security and resist the inferiority of the heart.
We drifted in 'Pujiang' for a few years, and during that time, 'Xinya' followed me to sleep on the floor for a few months.
I almost didn't even hold on to this relationship. Xinya' dreamed of us buying a house in 'Pujiang' and getting married, but 'Pujiang' house, which is our kind of working young people, said to be affordable to buy. We tried our best to save up, but we never saved enough for the down payment. Now I can make her life a little better, though. But without a house, Xinya dares not get married and have children. Our relationship has always remained based on love and cohabitation.
Our company is very big—so big that I can recognize the people—less than one-tenth, and this is only the branch.
The bigger the company, the more rules, so, like me, such low-level employees can sit in this spacious conference room with the vice president of such a level of leadership during the meeting, which is naturally hard-won. I put away my cell phone and then concentrate on sitting and listening to the vice president talk on the stage.
Suddenly, the phone vibrated, I secretly picked up the phone to answer, the phone came 'Xiaoya's' voice, I froze for a moment, and then came back to my senses.
The vice general manager's voice suddenly got louder as he spoke on the stage. "Some people don't think that you can be proud just because your grades are good." Eyes also deliberately glanced at me, next to the old He pulled me under the table, and I hurriedly said, The phone is now a little busy. I will call you later.
At the end of the meeting, I looked up when the vice president happened to throw over a fierce look.
I hurriedly smiled and nodded at him, as if I knew the mistake. Walking out of the conference room, a hand patted my shoulder again, letting my just-relaxing nerves instantly tense up. Looking back, 'Old He' handed over a cigarette. I took the cigarette and hurriedly pulled him to the smoking area in the corner, saying, "If the vice president sees me smoking in the no-smoking area again, he'll get mad again later."
'Old He' lit his own cigarette, exhaled, and said, "You still know that the vice president will be furious, ah?
In front of the vice president is still so unruly, not afraid that the vice president will be angry and kill you." I smiled and said, "If you kill me, your annual performance will be at least a few million dollars less."
In front of 'Old He', naturally, I don't need to worry so much, and my tone of voice is straight.
"What? You're bullish now, aren't you?" 'Old He' narrowed his eyes and looked at me. "This is called self-confidence; you are not often this training me?" I exhaled a mouthful of smoke and said,. "You can only be confident if you have the strength; you still have to work hard when you should work hard."
'Old He' patted my shoulder.
I was about to ask if I could get another bonus increase this month when the vice president suddenly came back. My heart jumped, and I hurriedly hid the cigarette behind me. Luckily,  he just glared at me and then called 'Old He' away. I remembered 'Xiaoya' and quickly called her back.
I dialed the phone, 'Xiaoya' voice warm and fresh, vaguely can still hear, the familiar timbre of childhood: "Brother, I graduated from college, I bought a ticket to 'Pujiang', if you cannot find a job, you have to rely on you.
If I can't find a job, I'll have to rely on you. I've already gotten on the train; if you don't care about me, I'll have to sleep in a bridge hole at night."
I said jokingly, "That's not cheap for those vagabonds; out of humanitarianism, I'll kindly take you in; I'll pick you up when we get to Pujiang.
" "Brother, you still have a little conscience." The phone came from the other end of her dumbfounded laughter.
Jokes to jokes, I hung up the phone, and I still could not help but have thoughts surging.
After many years of longing for the feelings, it seems that all of a sudden they were started again. The last time I saw 'Xiaoya' was six years ago, and the memories of the past, like a movie being played, slowly unfolded in my mind, and my heart was still in a vague throbbing pain.
Returning home from work, I talked to 'Xinya' about 'Xiaoya' coming to 'Pujiang', and we discussed with her letting 'Xiaoya'stay a at home temporarily.
Xin Ya seemed a bit hesitant and said, ''You decide; if you want to stay with us, then I'll clean up the living room, but I always find it a bit inconvenient...''.
I rushed to the landlord, who said that there was a room next door that would be vacated in two days.
So I paid the deposit and rented it. In fact, I don't know how long 'Xiaoya' is going to live and share with us; I'm afraid of aggravating 'Xinya', so I still want to rent it first, a little closer and also more convenient to take care of 'Xiaoya'.
The next day was a weekend, and I drove to the station to pick up 'Xiaoya'.
Even though I hadn't seen her for many years, I still recognized her right away, and I rolled down the window and shouted, "Xiaoya, Xiaoya!". 'Xiaoya' ran over with gusto and said with a little surprise, "Brother, you bought a car?" I gave a vague "Uh-huh.".
In fact, this car is what my sister sent me; 100,000 yuan "Cruze" is not expensive; I originally refused to want it, and then think about running a business, not even a car; it is indeed very inconvenient; and Xin Ya sometimes works, always catches the bus, and accepts it.
I made a point of stating that it was borrowed from her and that I would give the money to her later, even though I know that my sister will definitely not let me return it, but in my own heart, I am still secretly trying.
Outside the car window, a clean face, unpowdered, permeated with youthfulness.
'Xiao Ya' has grown up; the tender little girl from before is now a fair lady. She was wearing an orange T-shirt; her figure was slender and bumpy, full of youthfulness, familiar, and with a hint of strangeness. Because 'Xiao Ya's' body, which had suddenly developed and plumped up, had a fresh and delicate flavor everywhere.
Some people have said that things that suddenly grow out are always rough, such as a beard, but when I saw Xiaoya, this sentence was negated by me because Xiaoya's body that suddenly developed and plumped up everywhere reveals a fresh and meticulous flavor.

I said excitedly, "Hey, the little girl has grown into a great beauty nowadays; I really almost didn't recognize her.
" , 'Xiao Ya' stood in front of the car window, looking at me dumbfounded. I retracted my eyes from 'Xiao Ya' and said, "Why are you staring at your brother, Are you getting old?" , She looked at me and said with a cheeky smile, "Old is not old, just much more mature than before, and fatter." I interrupted her and said, "Cut the crap and get in the car."
Xiaoya is right; in the company, everyone hangs out as a business manager, actually runs sales, and socializing has become part of the work.
Although alcohol did not anesthetize my heart, beer plumped up the year's firm belly, although compared to the old He, I am considered skinny, but the year has clear and distinctive abdominal muscles, and now only a vague outline. Every day after taking a shower and looking in the mirror, I will lament, and then a table and customers will push the cups to go horse water; do not blink.
'Xiaoya' was like a sparrow just released from a cage, chattering non-stop along the way.
She kept asking all sorts of questions, many of which were borderline bizarre and strange. She had a hundred curiosities about this famous, prosperous, yet in various movies and novels, literary, and artistic city.
"Brother, where do you work?
" Xiao Ya asked.
"A big media company; you can often see it on TV.
" I said.
"You must be a big leader, then?
" She winked. "Just a small staff, then," I said.
"No way, brother, didn't you graduate from a major university?
" She was a bit surprised.
"A small staff is not bad; at least the money earned is enough to spend.
" I said.
'Xiao Ya' looked at me, obviously not knowing what the concept of earning enough to spend is.
I said, "A month should be enough to cover your tuition for a year." With that, Xiaoya's eyes let out a surprising light.
She stared out the window at the endless traffic like ants and said, "Brother, can I live here in the future?
"
I said, "Why do you want to live here?
" She said, "It's a very nice place.
She said, "This is a big 'Pujiang', ah, such a big city.

I said, "Do you like big cities?
I don't like it much, especially 'Pujiang'. When you stay here for a long time, you will find that it is materialistic, restless, and noisy, without a trace of the simple flavor of home."
Of course, 'Xiaoya' couldn't understand my feelings; she finally got a little tired after half a day's chattering and dozed off in her seat.
