CHAPTER 3

I went straight to Marco’s office just like what he told me. I asked his secretary if I could go in and she talked to him through an intercom. She then assisted me to his office. I thanked her after that.

“Hey,” I greeted after going in. He was now preparing the food he ordered for us, seems like he heated it. I took my phone and I typed it on my notes. Just in case I might forgot about this.

He looked at me and smiled, “Sit here,” he pulled a high chair on the bar counter on his mini kitchen. I placed my bag on the couch before sitting. “Have you thought about it?

He started placing plates and the foods before grabbing a pitcher on his mini refrigerator.

I nodded.

“So, what’s your decision?” he started putting pasta on my plate. Wait, I thought the choices were Chinese or Japanese food?

“I’ll take it,” I started swirling my fork on my pasta. “I thought you will order either Japanese or Chinese food?” I asked.

I raised my brows when I heard him chuckle, “I cooked it.

My lips formed an ‘o’ after hearing what he said. So he knows how to cook huh.

“So, how was it?” I gave him a thumbs up while still chewing.

“It tastes good!

He smiled, showing his dimple, “That’s good to hear then.

After that we started talking casually as we eat. He even told me about his dog, Maple, when she gave birth to three cute puppies. He was fun to talk with, that’s what I’ve noticed about him.

“Anyway, you should stop calling me Mr. Javier or anything formal, that’s so not me,” he said and was continued with a soft chuckle.

“You’re a director, how could I do that?” I raised my brow. It’s fine with me though.

He shrugged, “I don’t know? Just call me Marco.

“If that’s what you want.

After eating, I presented to wash the dishes because his secretary reminded him about his meeting in a few minutes.

I bring out my MacBook and placed it on the counter top so I could continue writing about Marco.

Marco is not just a young Director, he was also a degree holder. He graduated Pilot and he already earned his commercial licence.

I stopped typing when I heard the door opened and a girl that was about 15 to 17 year old went in.

“Oh, Marco’s not around?” she looked around and our eyes met. Her brows furrowed, “Who the hell are you? And why are you here?

I got out from the high stool and went near her, “I’m Athena. Marco’s uh.. personal assistant,” I introduced with a warm smile, “You are?

“Madelaine, his younger sister,” she accepted my hand for a handshake. So he has siblings.

“Marco went out to attend a board meeting, he will be back after an hour? I’m not sure,” I shrugged before going back to the counter top. I could feel her following me.

“Are you writing about my brother?” she asked while watching me type stuffs about him. I nodded, “Why?

“For work,” I shrugged, “I work for a publishing company and we will feature him, uh, next month. I think?

I saw her sat on the stool in front of mine.

“Are you not going to ask me?

I immediately looked at her when I heard her say that. Wow, she seems to like being asked.

“I will, but let me finish this first. And I still don’t have your brother’s permission,” she pouted on what she heard. Cute.

She was busy taking selfies and I was busy doing my thing. She wasn’t bothering me so I think it’s fine.

“I’m back— oh, Mady!

We both looked at Marco who was loosening his tie using his left hand while his right hand was holding his coat.

“Marco!” Madelaine squealed as she ran to her brother to hug him. I smiled at the sight, they’re close to each other. While they were busy catching up, I took a photo of them using my digital camera.

“Mady, you met her already. But let me introduce her, she is Athena, my friend and she also works for a publishing company.

Marco introduced to Madelaine. I smiled at her and she gave it back. He ordered snacks for the three of us since Madelaine will wait for him. I stopped doing my work to join them chitchat.

“So you two met at the Cafe?” yes, Mady’s interrogating us. She was curious on our score.

“Well, your brother suddenly showed up,” I shrugged before getting another slice of pizza. By the way, Marco’s back working. He had lots of papers to sign so Mady and I are the only one who’s chatting. Sometimes Marco will answer for me if needed.

“Hey, Athena,” I turned to look at Mady’s side when I heard her call me. She was taking a selfie... again. But this time, she included me. I smiled and then she pressed the shutter.

“Do you have an IG?” she asked while busy decorating our selfie.

“I have.

“Really?! Let me see your profile so I could follow you!” I chuckled at her reaction then fished out my phone so i could show her my profile.

“Wow! I love your feed!” Madelaine reacted as she stalked me using my phone. She even searched her own profile and followed herself before giving it back to me.

Wow, she’s pretty famous given that she was only, uh... high school?

I went back to work when I received an e-mail from my boss. He wanted me to proofread one of our newbie’s work before we could publish it.

My brows were furrowed the whole time I’m reading. This kid needs to study... again. My eyes narrowed when a notification popped up on the lower corner of my MacBook. It was a notification from Instagram. I took my phone to see what it was.

marcojavier followed you.

Oh. I looked at Marco and saw him typing on his phone. Then a seconds after, a notification popped up again. I followed him back before checking his Direct Message.

marcojavier: r u free on saturday?

I raised a brow after reading his message. I might meet my colleagues on Saturday.

alvsqz: IDK. Why?

After I clicked the send button, I received a call from Mira. I excused myself from the siblings before I went out to the nearest restroom.

“Hey, what’s up?” I said after answering the call.

“Are you free after work?

“I guess not, I still have to proofread three works from the newbie,” I answered honestly.

I heard her sigh, “What about on Saturday?

“Still not sure. You know, we never had a stable schedule,” we both laughed on my statement.

“Fine. Just inform me when you are free, you had a lot to explain.

And with that, she hung up. I went back to Marco’s office to fix my things so I could go home early. I’m afraid that Hail, my Pomeranian dog, might chew my paperwork.

“Hey, Athena!

I looked at Mady who was sitting beside me. I answered her with a ‘hm’ before looking back at my stuffs.

“Do you mind if we invite you out for dinner?
