Finally! It’s New Year’s Eve and together with Tae Hyeon-ssi, we decided to welcome the New Year at Han River. We agreed to meet at 10 PM there exactly at Han. Feeling boring at the day, I snatched my phone and hurriedly called my only loyal friend, Seo Jin. ‘Hello? May I speak to Seo Jin-ssi, please?’ I teased and asked formally like those in corporate melodramas. With her fully upgraded wittiness, she instantly picked up what I’m trying to do. ‘Ah! Thank you for calling me, director Ji Yeon. What can I do for you, director?’ she confidently said together with her splendid acting skills. ‘Is Seo Jin-ssi available, today? Please come at the usual place, now’ I acted like a mob leader and ordered. ‘Understood, I’ll head out immediately’ she instantly said and hanged up soon after. After that weird and strange phone conversation, I sighed heavily. I don’t know what crap I’m doing right now. This girl greatly influenced me in a lot of way. I smiled like a fool and mumbled, ‘What am I doing?’. After that I dressed up and went to the usual place we often visited. It’s just a normal cake shop around the neighborhood. There’s nothing special about that place except for their super delicious Triple Deluxe Choco-Vanilla Layered Cake. It’s really delicious. The last time we visited that place, we ate around 4-5 cakes. Well, Seo Jin and I were self-proclaimed dessert critiques. Our palates were fully trained and were expert in this field. I entered the shop and Seo Jin arrived soon after. This time I didn’t invite Seo Jin for the cake but, I need some advices. Yeah, it’s about what’s happening between me and Tae Hyeon-ssi. After that Christmas Eve, he didn’t messaged or texted me after. Well I admit that I messaged him first but I didn’t hear a reply from him for almost a week. I thought he’s already dead. He suddenly messaged me earlier to spend New Year’s Eve with him. Is he playing tug of war with me? What’s with his sudden push and pulling? I can’t understand him. Sometimes he’s bold and direct. Sometimes he’s dense and timid. And sometimes he’s cold and eccentric. What is his problem? Does he have split personalities? Does his mood swings have irregular patterns? He’s weird and mysterious yet my heart still flutters when he’s around. What’s with me? Haist, what a naïve girl I am. I ordered the shop’s specialty and brought it back to our seat. After placing the cakes at the table, I began talking about my problem. ‘Do I look stupid these days? Be honest with me’ I bluntly asked. Seo Jin whom was just staring at the cake said, ‘Should I really be honest? Do you think you can handle the answer? What’s wrong? Is there any problem with that Tae Hyeon guy?’. ‘I think he’s playing hooky with me. Last Christmas Eve he was so aggressive but after that I didn’t hear any news from him until I got a message earlier. What do you think?’ I gently raised the tone of my voice and asked. Seo Jin sighed heavily as she stared in the cakes and said, ‘Ah! This is a problem’. I looked at her cluelessly and asked, ‘What do you mean problem?’. She looked at me with such worried face and said, ‘My diet’. ‘What did you say?’ I asked once again as I thought that I heard it wrong. Still with those worried face of her, she sighed heavily as she confidently said ‘My diet. These cakes are really tempting. My diet is now ruined. Augh!’ straight into my eye. Well I was kind of disappointed. I should’ve never expected more from this woman. As she still focusing on the cakes, I softly hammered her head with a fork and fiercely said, ‘Ya! Did you even hear what I said?’. She finally snapped and looked at me instantly. ‘What do you think? He probably thought that you’re an easy catch so he’s testing you by not showing much of presence’ she said while started digging in the cake. While passionately eating, she continued her brute lecture. ‘I saw him the last time and I admit he’s handsome. He’s probably confident with his looks so he doesn’t worry that much. There are probably a lot of girls chasing him so he doesn’t have much time to worry about certain someone and I bet that he probably sees different woman everyday. You met at Christmas Eve right? And now it’s in the New Year’s Eve. Both of the dates were Tuesday so I’ll bet that you’re the Tuesday girl’. Every word Seo Jin throws pierced deeply in my heart. She continued lecturing me with his harsh words and seemed like she won’t stop. Her words made my legs and arms weaken as it’s like a prophecy as most of them are facts that really happened. This girl keeps on talking with his damn mouth while enjoying the cake. It’s really a bad idea approaching this woman. I should’ve just rested and enjoyed being the Tuesday girl that knew nothing. But still I wonder if he’s really someone like that. Playing hooky with different girl’s everyday. He’s handsome and charming and that seemed plausible. ‘That’s why Tuesday girl, keep your distance from that hotshot playboy if you don’t want to suffer miserably in the end, okay? Ugh, this cake! Why is it so good? My one week diet is such a waste, ugh!’ she finally finished her closing statement and immediately finished his plate in silence. I looked at her miserably as I was greatly torn by her words. She blankly stared at me and said, ‘Why won’t you eat? Aren’t you hungry?’. The only word that came out of my mouth that time is, ‘Aish!’. I almost swore at her but thankfully I’m an educated person so I controlled my anger. After that demonic preaching of one of the demons in the underworld, I went back home completely defeated. Hunger and broken hearted. What a gorgeous day, indeed. That glutton demon. She said she’s on a diet yet finished 5 cakes on her own. She didn’t even spare some for me. I soullessly prepared for the night and directly headed to Han River. He messaged me the location of the tent and grill that he borrowed. As I reached the said location, I saw him grilling meat from afar. My expression that time became livelier as I find it very cute. As I approached him, a man suddenly came out from the tent and it really surprised me. ‘Tae Hyeon-ssi!’ I shouted while waving my hands in the air. The both them looked at my direction and Tae Hyeon-ssi smiled in an instant. The other guy just gazed at me with no expression in his face as I walked towards them. Tae Hyeon immediately introduces me the guy who’s with him. ‘Ah! By the way, this is my younger brother’ he said. His brother slightly bowed as a greeting and formally introduces himself, ‘I’m Choi Jin Hyeon. Nice to meet you, Song Ji Yeon noona’ he offered his hand and smiled at me with those cold gazes of him. The way he said my name at the end started bothering me. It’s somehow off, I should say. I don’t have time to think about that weirdness for now so I also offered my hand and did a handshake as a formal greeting. The two started cooking meat and I just sat inside the tent watching them cook. While blankly looking at their faces, the similarities on their appearance is quite obvious. Well, they’re brothers after all. His brother Jin Hyeon looked back and smirked as he looked towards my direction. He continued cooking meat after that like nothing happened. Thanks to my quick observation, I saw that expression on his face and it’s quite bothering. Just like how he mentioned my name earlier, it’s making me anxious. I don’t know but I felt like I’m starting to have more doubts after I got out of the hospital. Is it because of the accident’s side effects? Is it really bad for my health to lose that month worth of memories? While doubting that younger brother, we started eating. Me and Tae Hyeon conversed normally while eating but his brother was really bothering me that it’s making the environment awkward. As we are talking, he was staring at me the whole time. I just ignored it but it’s really making me uncomfortable. I can’t take this anymore. I looked towards his brother and bluntly said, ‘Is there any problem? You kept on looking at me and to tell you the truth, it’s making me uncomfortable’. He flinched in surprise and just brushed off it off with a smile as he said, ‘Ah. Nothing. I’m just curious about the girl who captivated my brother, nothing else’. That caught me off guard making me flustered. Even Tae Hyeon was surprised by that and fought with his brother after. Well, thank you for that. I greatly appreciated it but I also hope that it was true. I also hoped that he felt that way also to me. Well, I don’t feel free to dream, girl. We began talking seriously while eating and the ice around us slowly melts as we started getting to know each other. His brother is 6 years younger than him and was currently studying in Seoul University’s Business Management Department. He’s also good-looking just like his brother but he’s aura is quite dark compare to Tae Hyeon. Fireworks started lighting the dark sky as the New Year passed by. During the fireworks show, his brother patted him and the two of them left to find a quieter place. Well, they said that they need to talk so I didn’t give a fuss about it. I enjoyed the fireworks show and after a few minutes, it ended. I looked back and searched everywhere around the vicinity of our tent but I can’t find them. They need to talk so probably they went too far. With nothing to do, I just cleaned and picked up all the wastes around. After cleaning, their disappearance started bugging me. What if they got stabbed or kidnapped? I mean, they are good-looking, male rape cases is a trend these days. Seo Jin’s relative might be lurking around waiting for a flower guy to climb on. I started getting anxious as I looked for them. After minutes of searching, finally I saw them. From afar, their conversation seemed serious. You can feel the aura surrounding them while they’re talking. It’s heavy. I tiptoed as I slowly approached them. While tiptoeing, their conversation started getting more serious as Jin Hyeon began shouting. It surprised me as I can barely hear their conversation now. ‘Hyung passed away just like that and now, what are you doing? Who’s that woman?’ Jin Hyeon shouted. Upon hearing my presence in their conversation, I stopped walking and just eavesdropped silently. I can’t let them know that I’m here peeking at them. They’re talking about me and I guess I have the rights to know what they say, right? I mean, even if just it hurts me; I won’t mind hearing his true feelings towards me. I’m just a simple 30 years old auntie. Enough with my dramas, I quietly peeked at them and watched what was happening. ‘Tell me? Who’s that woman? Are you having a fling with her?’ his younger brother desperately shouted in his face. He just looked down with a restless expression in his face. He slowly clenched his fist and after a few seconds, he grabbed his brother’s hand and started walking as he says, ‘Let’s go now. She’s waiting there alone. The fireworks show must be done by now’. His brother retaliated and brushed off his arms. ‘So you really have feelings for that woman? Hyung! Please . . . You know this is not right, right?’ his brother pleaded for him with a saddened and worried expression in his face. He didn’t talk and just went silent. ‘Hyung? Tell me . . . Please. This is not right, right? The moment I saw that woman, I got a feeling that I kind of seen here somewhere. After observing her during the time we eat, I finally realized who’s that woman is’ he said. After hearing their conversation, the flow and the contents is getting weirder. Despite that I intensely listened as I watch. Tae Hyeon slowly lifted up his head and looked at his brother’s eyes with a serious expression. He slowly softened his clenched fist and started talking. ‘You’re right. That’s the woman. Then what will you do?’ he straightforwardly said with such confidence. His brother’s expression went restless as he shouts, ‘HYUNG!’. His brother grabbed his shoulders with brute force while looking straight at his eyes wearing such discomfort in his face. ‘HYUNG! You also know it, right? It’s all because of that woman! Because of her . . .‘ his brother screamed as he lowered his head and started tearing. ‘I also know! That’s wh—‘ he got cut off by his brother. His brother gazed at him with such shocked expression and said, ‘Hyung, perhaps, are you the one who approached her from the start? Why? Are you curious?’. Tae Hyeon didn’t even bat an eye and bluntly said, ‘Yeah. I got curious, why?’. His brother yelled at him once again, ‘HYUNG!’. I felt a sudden pain in my chest the more I listened to their conversation. I knew it. Our first meeting was really weird. I knew it but I gave it up knowing that it might be impossible. Why would a good looking guy approached me first? That fact was really unconceivable the more I listened at it. But that false fact became a reality that I really feared for. After yelling with all his heart, silence conquered the surrounding. I slowly stood up and planned to walk away as I can’t hear any more about this nonsense. The fact that he approached with ulterior motives was already something that was unforgivable. I lowered my head so that my hair can block my face. I’m really upset and it really showed in my face. As I started to walked away, his brother spouted something that made me fell on my standing and tremble in extreme shock

‘I don’t care about your reasons on why you approached that woman. Just always remember that the fact that she killed Jae Seung hyung with her own hands is something that cannot be tainted even with such absurd lies. I don’t know if she faked her amnesia or not but the fact that he killed hyung will always be the truth’
