Chapter 4 – Untouchable

I went inside a mall to check some clothes. I want a new piece of clothing for the sake of this date. I don’t want to wear only shirt and jeans for this. I want something new. I want a better version of my fashion that’s why I’m inside this mall.

The saleslady offered me a hand but I insist because I want to find something that’s new to my style. I don’t want annoying salesladies to suggest something that I don’t like and they will give a good impression even though it’s not actually good.

I saw a black polo shirt with a simple design. I think it would fit my style. I want to look firm but still simple. I also bought new brown jeans for the sake of this date. I still have some good shoes to wear at home that’s why I decided not to buy.

I fitted the polo shirt and the brown jeans I bought. Luckily, it fits my size. I almost went to the counter when the necklace piques my attention. It’s a silver necklace with an infinity design. I think that necklace would make me look cool that’s why I also brought it to the counter.

I paid a lot for the sake of this date. I always want to prepare for dates. I want to look fresh and cool because I don’t want to disappoint my date. I also wear different during my dates on my ex-girlfriends.

I head to my car after I paid for the pieces of the clothing I bought. I went inside the car and I drove home.

When I got home, I took a bath. I already took a bath before going to the mall but still I took another bath. After taking another bath, I put some moisturizer in my face just to have some glow in my face. I’m not the type of person who likes to put different products in my face but for today I put one just for the sake of the date.

After putting moisturizer in my face, I wear my newly bought clothes. I observe my look in the front of the mirror. I even smile after noticing that I look great. I comb my wet hair after I put I sprayed it with hairspray. I brushed my hair using my fingers then I pose like a model. I even took a photo of it and I post it in my instagram. I don’t have a lot of followers in instagram, only my exes and Leon that’s why I didn’t think it would be such a hit.

When I became satisfied with my look, I texted Larissa to wait for me then I head to my car. I even went to carwash yesterday for this day. I left my apartment with a smile.

I saw Larissa holding an umbrella while waiting for me. She’s wearing a simple but a nice dress that fits her. I smiled before opening the window of my car. She smiles at as if she’s excited for the things we’ll be doing today.

“Sorry for making you wait,” I apologize. She must’ve been waiting here for minutes or hours.

“It’s okay. I just arrived when you your car hits the intersection.” I just not at her before letting her to go inside the car. There’s something I forgot. I forgot to buy flowers and chocolates.

“I’m sorry that I didn’t bought you something. I forgot it.”

“It’s okay. Your presence is enough for me to enjoy this day. If you still haven’t figured it out, I just want to say that I like you. You’re likeable, Hayden the first night I saw you.”

I don’t know what to respond that’s why I stayed silent. I didn’t know if I like her or I just want to spend my time on her just because of my ex-girlfriend cheated on me. Larissa’s a nice and an okay girl.

“It’s okay, I’m not waiting for your response. Let’s just enjoy this day.” I can sense a bitterness in her voice. It’s actually my fault that I didn’t answer, that I am not prepared for those kind of questions.

“Where do you want to go, Larissa?” I changed the topic by asking her that question. I bet she likes to go inside mall or eat in a fancy restaurant. I prepared a money to spend for this day.

“I thought you have plans for today.” My eyes enlarged when she said that. I don’t have plans for the day. I thought she’s the one who have a plan on where we should go. “It’s okay. Let’s just to the nearest zoo.”

“I’m sorry if I disappointed you. I’m sorry if I didn’t have plans for today. I’m sorry for ruining this date. I should have plan more.” She just smiles at me. I thought she’s going to despise me for having no plans for the day. I thought that she will be having a tough face for the day but she didn’t. She even shows that smile.

“I’m fucking…” I was interrupted by her fingers. She used it shut my mouth from cussing. It’s a miracle that I didn’t travel back to her past. Maybe, my lips are not able to use my curse.

“It’s okay, Hayden. It will always be okay. Having you for the day is enough for me to satisfy my day. Just don’t talk and just let your hands grip the steering wheel and let’s just drive through the zoo.”

I did what she said. I am controlled by her sweet and calming voice. We traveled for fifty minutes before we got into the nearest zoo. I bought us tickets before we got inside the zoo.

“Where do you want to go first, my lady?” I tried to act like an emperor, king or a prince just to entertain her. I should entertain her and not to disappoint her again in this date.

“You’re acting like a princes or a king. It’s not for you, Hayden. Kings are too old for you and in reality, they are not really good-looking. They are just old men with a lot of false principles.” We laughed at her jokes. I like her simple laugh. It’s a music to my ears. “And I would like to fetch an ice cream first before walking for miles inside this huge zoo.”

“Then let’s fetch some ice cream.” She offered her hand to me but I didn’t mind. I just want to enjoy this day and not to ruin it just because of her past. Past is not what matters, it’s actually present and what’s happening in reality.

We saw a guy selling dirty ice creams. There were kids buying ice cream. There were to flavors, chocolate and cheese. Larissa have chocolate and I have cheese. After buying ice cream, we started to walk through the zoo.

The first animal we saw inside the zoo was an elephant. There were five elephants inside the zoo. I bet the largest one is their mother. I personally think that elephants are cool because of their trunks and they can sip water just because of that part.

Then we saw a gorilla, some of the kids are playing with the gorilla. I remember our childhood lessons about Darwinian Theory what we just adapt this features from monkeys. Larissa’s face looks marveled by the animals we saw.

“No! I don’t want to, Hayden!” she insists when we’re about to take a picture with a huge snake. She looks afraid that’s why we didn’t continue what I am planning to. We just went on a small pond where fishes are being fed by the kids.

The day is just starting. We can still do more and we can enjoy the day today.
