Chapter 6

Hayden

"His father died a month ago. My husband died." A girl who's about in her 30's holds the little boy's hand. It's her mother. "We need to have him a therapy like bringing him to zoo or park. He needs to enjoy his life but it seems like the tragic part of his life is unforgettable. I just want him to have a normal life. I just want him to forget his father's death." the lady almost cried in front of us. His son is hugging her tightly while hiding his face.

"Here..." I offered a handkerchief for her tears. She shook her head, rejecting my offer but I insist giving it to her. "You need that..." She accepted my handkerchief before smiling. I averted my sight to Larissa who's also smiling to the lady.

"Thank you! You're such a nice guy. Best wishes for you and your wife," she said and she walked away with her child. My forehead creased by what she just said. Wife? Larissa isn't my wife or my girlfriend.

"You're my husband?" Larissa chuckled. I rolled my eyes at her.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked. She looks at the sky like she's thinking.

"Anywhere with you..."

We took our last walk around the zoo and we discovered a lot of animals, most are wild. Larissa thinks that the lion and tiger are cute but I said that they're dangerous. We also had a look with a gorilla. She teased me that I look like a gorilla that's why I teased her that she looks like a monkey. We had fun walking around the zoo until it gets dark.

"I'm hungry," I blurted as I put the key into the key fob. We both entered the car and I opened its engine. I gripped my hand on the steering wheel very tightly before focusing myself on looking on the road. My tummy's tickling because of hunger. We only ate ice cream for the time we went inside the zoo.

"Where do you want to eat? It's my treat for you, Larissa." Her lip curved when I said those words. She suddenly put her finger on her chin, thinking where she wants to eat.

"Anywhere with you," she said and she chuckled. What the heck is she saying? She's saying that for the second time. Is she having fun on me? She's incredible. "Just kidding. I want in any restaurant which serves native food. I don't want to eat in a restaurant where the food being served is full of preservatives." I nod at her before heading to one of the native restaurant I knew.

We arrived at the native restaurant at exactly seven o' clock. I parked my car near the diner before we went inside it. The restaurant is full of painting which depicts the history of the Philippines. There were also horns of cows placed around. There's a hundred year-old piano beside our table. A teenager boy was playing with it. It seems like he's still practicing because he didn't know which key to press while playing the song 'Little Star'.

"Sir, what's your order?" the guys wearing a plain white polo and black jeans asked us. He also handled us the menu.

"Mine is Chicken Adobo and Halo-halo," Larissa whispered.

"Our order is two chicken adobo with rice and two special halo-halos."

"Okay, sir. Please wait for ten to fifteen minutes for your order." The waiter nodded and headed to the cashier.

I bit my lip when I saw the mouth-watering foods brought by the waiter. He carefully placed it on our table with two glasses of water.

The chicken adobo is served in a small bowl. It's a chicken covered with soy sauce. I can still remember that my mom likes to cook adobo for all of us. It's her specialty in cooking and I really like its taste. I suddenly miss my mom and the food she offered to us. I really love her. Someday we'll meet in the afterlife. Not now but soon.

"I like it!" Larissa exclaimed as she tasted the halo-halo. It's a shaved ice, covering the other sinkers like pearls, banana slices, ube halaya, coconut, and jelly. It was topped with leche flan and ube ice cream. The foods here are native and mouth watering. "What's your problem? You look upset?"

I shook my head. "No. I just miss my mother. She always cooks chicken adobo for all us but now I won't taste it again since she's already dead. Let's just don't mind it. Let's just keep on eating these scrumptious foods." I faked a smile at her. I tasted the adobo; its taste is more on traditional adobo than modern ones. I like since it almost taste just like my mother's adobo.

"Hayden, can you tell me more about yourself. We met and we hang out but I still didn't know you that well." I still didn't know you that much either. "Can you tell me about your past relationships? I'm really curious about someone's past romance." She giggled and she looks excited with my answer. She's like a child teasing her brother with my exes.

"I had three girlfriends before but I broke up with them since I discovered something from them. The first one used to work in a club, she's a dancer. The second one used to play with guys when she was in high school. The latest one cheated on me one time. We just broke up for about a week." I don't to say that I have this some kind of curse or power that's why I discover something from my exes. This curse should be kept a secret. I regret having it. I regret not having a normal life because of it.

"You just broke up with them just because you discovered something about them?"

"Y-Yeah..." I shyly said. She put her wrist on her face as if she's disappointed.

"You shouldn't break up with them just because of what they did in the past." I bit my lip when she said those words. I know. "What if you discover something about me? Will you do the same?" I shake my head. I won't discover her past. I won't leave her just because of her past. I just want to spend time with her for my life time.

I didn't bother to answer her since I'm busy eating and enjoying the foods. After we finished eating, I drove her home safely to her place.

"This won't me the last time, right?" she asked. "This might be because I drove you mad while we're eating dinner." She's going to walk away from me and I shouted her name.

"Larissa Ophelia!" She turned back, faking a smile. "This won't be the end. I will see you again..."

Yes, I want to see her again.
