"Wake up you worthless slut all you do is sleep, get up,  I said get up." My step father said as he grabbed me by my neck and is pulling me up by it, he is choking me from my sleep.

"Please." I managed to gasp out.

He dropped me really hard on the floor and I hit my head in the process, what did I do now was my only thought, he left me feeling dizzy just to come back with the whip he got specially for me, he started beating me.
He tore a bit of my cloth and he carried me up by one leg and dragged me around so that I was laying on my back on the ground. He gave me six heavy strikes to the back that had me screaming, the pain was unbearable. 
         My head started to hurt again, my whole body was now numb to the pain he was causing me despite that fact I still could not bear the pain anymore so I eventually passed out. I woke up from my state of darkness but I could not feel my body.

 I tried to move any part of my body but my body had other plan, after several attempts I eventually gave up on trying to move, I could not keep my eyes open any longer I fell into a Peaceful bliss of horror and darkness.

I do not know how long I was out for, but at least I woke up again, thank God for that, after a while of just laying there I decided to try to move my body again but I could only move my fingers and toes.

I was in that position for about thirty minutes before I was finally able to move my legs and thigh, but every movement caused me a heart shattering pain.

I do not even know how I am still alive after he brutally beat me, I tried standing up but I wobbled and fell.
I tried again and stood on wobbling feet, my head ached from the fall. I tried walking slowly to my bed but I ended up falling on the bed and I just decided to lay there and face my thoughts.

*flashback*

     Mrs Juliet came to help me when I called out to her, but things did not go well for her afterwards, my step father ran to the kitchen as she inspected my naked form.

"Are you alright?" 
I shook my head because I was too shaken up to say anything.

"Come sit."

"My step father walked into the parlor with the special whip he got me."

Mrs Juliet tried to hide me from his view thinking he wanted to finish what he started, but instead of hitting me with the whip he lashed her on her neck and she cried out in pain, he gave her five lashes, she was writhing in pain, I could only watch in horror the as the scene unfolded before me, after he was done. 

"If you ever, I mean ever meddle in my family matters, I will make sure to end you, get up and leave or else your precious babies will never see there sweet mom again."

She did not even look back as she bolted out of the house through the front door. I guess we are no longer going to the cinema.

"You see that? know one can ever help you, you are stuck with me you will only go where I want you too,filthy murderer, the only place you are good in, is in bed and in the kitchen, you are broken, I broke you, why would she want to help you, I just hope you do not kill her the same way you killed your mother but I have made it clear to this mad woman and I promise you, she will never look in your direction again."

"I want my lunch now I am starved, clean this place up and make my lunch."

"Okay."

*End of flashback*

    I hate being alone with my thoughts, by now my headache had subside and I can move all parts of my body now, I wobbled to the kitchen and bandaged my head again and I took some pain killer pills.
I then proceeded to making dinner, I made spaghetti and beans with meatballs, I made enough for two people and I ate half of it, I kept the rest for my father,I wobbled to my room and cleaned it up.
         I am thankful I have no homework, I did not even ask Alero about Debby gold,after I was done I went to lay on my bed and before I knew it I fell into a peaceful bliss. 
I woke up early the next morning as usual, I went to the bathroom to do my usual routine, after I got out I picked a flay long skirt that is torn at some part and a shirt.

I wore my torn sandals and applied some make up, I grabbed my backpack and went to the kitchen, I was still wobbling because I still felt a bit dizzy, I did not put bandages on my head but I took some pain killers and I made breakfast for my step father, I grabbed an apple and left.
        I walked slowly to school, I saw Alero and her friends in the parking lot and I went over to them, we exchanged greeting and Dinela asked me why I was dressed like that.
Alero nudged her Arm and told me to ignore her.

That there is nothing wrong with what I am wearing then she gave me a smile and glared at Dinela who did not even bother to say anything in her defense and just rolled her eyes.

"Come on let us go into the school." Said Austin.

"Has anyone seen Debby gold lately." I asked them.

"That day you were not in school she also was not in school said Alero."

"What do you think happened?"

"I have no idea, but it is good she Is not here, I hope she never comes back." Said Dinela

"Do not speak like that." Alero scolded.

"I think Dinela is right if she never comes back no more bullying around here."

"Debby gold is not the only bully in this school, do not forget that even if she leaves there are other bullies in this school that will be glad to take her place and they might even be worst than her."

"I think Alero is right,there are other bullies in this school and I really hope we never come across any of them, and we do not know how they operate, I know that if Debby gold leaves other bullies will take her place and it will be worst for us, so let's hope that she comes back."

"You think so?" Alero asked.

"Yes, I do think so."

"Okay, we do not want to be late for class,the bell just rang for first period." Said Austin.

He always remind us of class, we won't miss class as long as he is here. We went to our lockers ,took out our books and we each went to our classes.

I was having English class for first period, Good day class,good day sir, we will continue, the book we where reading *better days Ahead*.

He started talking about the book and I zoned out almost immediately, I have read the book halfway after all.

*flashback*
  
"Mrs Juliet?! Axymah said you are a witness to her so called abuse, tell us everything you saw that happened."

"I am sorry officer but I have no idea about what you are talking about. Officer what abuse are you talking about?! Axymah did not tell me about any abuse and I certainly did not witness or see anything."

"I told you my step father abuses me and you witnessed it happen the day you asked me to go with you and your kids to the movies, you came into my house and found him on top of me,you came to my aid and he lashed you with a whip, do you not remember?"

"Officer I really do not know what she is talking about. I think she may have hit her head really hard on something,she asked me to help her to call 911 and I asked her why, she told me to just make the phone call that then I will see the reason why, if I had known this was what she wanted to do I would have not called you, I am so sorry."

"It is okay Mrs Juliet."

"Can I take my leave now officer?"

"Of course you can and Azyma, this man right here is your father,he will never hurt you."

"He is not my father,my real father is dead, this man did not even get married to my mother."

"I am sorry officer she does not know what she is saying."

"We will leave you to handle this."

"Okay."

"We will take our leave now, have a nice day Mr Dario. 

*End of flashback*.

    Okay, that is all for today we will continue in our next class, the bell rang and everyone left, I can not believe I zoned out through out the whole class.

What is wrong with me? Every time I zone out I always have this stupid flashbacks, why can't I just forget them? I grabbed my backpack and was about to leave when Mr Walter called me back.

"Azyma?"

"Yes sir."

"I told you to write a summary of the novel but you only wrote about two chapters."

"Sir it is because I did not read the book till the end,I wrote what I read."

"Why did you not read the book to the end? I clearly said a summary of the end not for you to write two chapters of the novel."

"I do not have the novel, I read the novel a while I was in Lagos, so it is what I read then that I wrote."

"Did you check the library for the novel?"

"No sir."

"You may take your leave."

"Okay sir."

I left his presence and I went to the Hallway where I was bombarded with questions.

"What took you so long?" Asked Alero.

"What was Mr Walter telling you?"

"Nothing he was just commenting on my report."

 I went to my locker and got out my next book for second period, everyone did the same as the bell rang for second period.

"See you later guys."

"We are not guys but ladies."

"Okay, see you later ladies."

"later Austin."

We all went to our next class, Biology,the next class also went smoothly, I have not even started thinking about the experiment that was given to us,I managed to listen to the teacher not until Debby gold walked in, my heart got caught in my throat.

   I could not believe my eyes, why was I surprised that she came here, she schools here after all, maybe really I considered what Dinela and Austin, that she should never come back here again.

What drama will she cause this time again, she sat down quietly and Mr Walter scolded her for coming late and she politely apologize.

   She glanced at me and gave me a nasty stink eye, I removed my gaze from her own and focused on the class. soon the period ended and I practically flew out of the class,I did not want Debby gold to have a chance to talk to me. 
I kept my books in my locker and I ran to the cafeteria where I took my sit with Alero and her friends.

"Azyma what is wrong did you see a ghost?" Austin asked.

"I saw worst than that, Debby gold is back."

"What! Why?" Dinela asked.

"I will Tell you why," Said Alero "she is back because she schools here." As soon as she said that Dinela gave her an eye roll.

"Azyma last time will not repeat itself we will be there for you." Dinela promised.

"Okay,okay,enough of Debby gold let us eat." Said Austin.

"Dinela do you know what I found out today?"

"No,what did you find out?"

"I found out that Alero has a crush on Samuel Adam."

Alero's face turned a slight shade of pink which proves she really does have a crush on him.

"What?! are you serious?" Dinela asked.

"Yes I am, she told me she likes him."

"I like him because he is a good person but I do not have a crush on him."

"Yeah right, and how do you know he is a good person?" Asked Dinela. "If you do not confess to us now I will march over to his table and tell him you said you like him." She threatened.

"No you will not dare do that." Alero said.

"You know I love to do things like this,you have three seconds to tell us."

"Please do not do this she pleaded with us."

While Austin silently watched the drama with a smirk on his face.

"One."

"Please Azyma you guys should not do this to me."

"First of all we are ladies and secondly why are you pleading with Azyma? I am the one who is going to do this, now spill it out do you have a crush on him?"

"Dinela please stop this."

"Two, Thr..."

"I have a crush on Samuel Adam!" She yelled lowly that we were the only ones that heard it.

"There are you happy now?"

"Yes I am very happy." Said Dinela.

A huge smile lit up our faces and Austin's smirk turned to a smile.

"You hear that? I told you she has a crush on him."

"Yes Azyma you where right, all of this time you had a crush on him and you did not tell us."

   By now Alero's face has turned completely red, we are deeply offended by that, Dinela also feigned being hurt.

"I am sorry guys I was too embarrassed to tell you guys, sorry."

"You should never feel embarrassed to tell us anything Austin and I are your friends, and Azyma is your classmate but you consider her a friend, so why should you be embarrassed, am I right Azyma?"

"Yes right you are."

Then  the bell rang for signalling the end of lunch break,we cleared our table and left the cafeteria.

  I silently prayed Debby gold does not come to me again, I went to my locker and took out my book for second period, we said our see you later and we went to our classes.

I entered and took a sit, I was so glad Debby gold is not in this class with me, or maybe she was just running late, the teacher entered the class, we greeted him good afternoon sir, good afternoon to you too. We are having computer.

"The topic of today is Networking."

This time I listened and took notes of everything he said.

That is all for today but I will be giving you assignments today."

Everyone replied with a grunt,the assignment is, write short note on the following with there advantages and disadvantage;Bus network topology, star network topology.

     I noted it in my note book, I then walked out of class after the bell rang and I made my way to my next locker, I was about to go meet Alero and her friends where they stood in the Hallway, but I then spotted Debby gold, so I quickly grabbed my book and rushed to my last class of the day.

I entered the class and I wanted to grab a seat but a girl stopped me I think her name is  Miranda, sorry this sit is taken, I tired to grab other sits but they were all also taken.

  There was only one sit left and it was next to west Cooper's sit, all right students take your sits, I walked over to him and took the sit next to him, my heart was in my throat as I tried so hard to breathe.

"You guys are to big to greet me Right?"

"Good afternoon sir." We greeted.

"Afternoon." We are having mathematics.

"Today's topic is algebra, bring out your notes and let us begin."

I listened attentively and I did not even zone out this time.

"Do you know mathematics?"

I heard West Cooper ask but I did not know if he was talking to me so I decided to ignore him.

"Were you not taught to reply whenever you are spoken to."

"Are you talking to me?" I asked him.

"Yes I am, why are you so surprised? are you not worth talking to?"

"Of course I am, thank you for saving me from Debby gold the last time."

"Oh that was nothing."

"You sound like you are used to it."

"No I am not,she does that a lot and it kind of pissed me off yesterday."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why was she picking on me? And why did it piss you off? I mean I do not even know her from anywhere, so why?"

 "I am sorry but I do not have an answer to your question, I do not know why she did that to you, and it just pissed me off, there is no real reason for that."

"Okay." That was the end of our conversation, he did not say anything after that.
I then went back to listening to what was being taught by the mathematics teacher. Soon after the bell, rang signaling the end of class, but he just had to give us homework, after noting down the homework.
          I left the class and went to meet Alero and her friends in the hallway, but I saw only Austin standing there, I marched up to him and I asked him where Alero and Dinela are,they are yet to come out of there class.

Just then we saw them coming straight to us.

"Wow, for the first time you finished class before us." Said Dinela.

"It was my turn to roll my eyes." Sorry we were late we were copying the assignments that was written on the board."

"Were you guys also given homework today."

"Yes." Austin and I answered in unison.

"Okay let us go."

"I am so happy today is the last day of the week I am going to sleep all day tomorrow, then do all my homework on Sunday." Said Alero.

"Same plan." Said Austin

We exited the school and we all separated and went to our respective homes.
