Chapter 27 : Thoughts!

Adam wasn't mentally prepared to see Fiona like this. However, he quickly rushed to hospital.

In emergency unit,

"Her body went into hypovolemic shock due to excessive amount of blood loss. We had to supply blood for her. Her pulse is very weak. And the abortion pill she took, it was a high dose pill." The doctor explained her condition to Adam.

"That's why she is here, give her treatment." Adam spoke impatiently.

"We are doing as we can but we are to inform you her whole condition. It's clear that the patient didn't took advice from any doctor regarding the abortion. Normally we test patient's hemoglobin level before permitting them for abortion. And observing her body we can say from the beginning it was a high risk pregnancy for her. She is already malnourished, under weight and weak and her hemoglobin level is very low. This abortion pill caused the worst to her body. She not only lost excessive amount of blood, her main reproductive organ, uterus can also be greatly affected by this." Doctor said and went away.

Adam was pacing in the hospital lawn. When found Fiona, he was shocked. He never imagined that he would see her in such a condition. She was lying in the pool of her own blood.

Right now, his thoughts were muddled. All he did for revenge was quite praiseworthy in his eyes. He was so successful that his game of revenge took the life of his own blood. But there was one small mistake, he targeted the wrong person. Fiona.

Fiona wasn't Brian's daughter. She was abused, tortured for nothing. And now the game of revenge is nullified, he had to let her go. Letting her go back to her old life.

He was attracted to her, quite a lot. But every time he brushed away his feelings with the excuse of his revenge. Now, he knew she was innocent, would he let her go?

Actually, she was innocent the all along.

Even if she was daughter of Brian, she was still innocent. Brian would be the criminal, not Fiona.

Would he let her go?

He didn't want to let her go. Suddenly a strange type of possesssiveness engulfed him regarding Fiona after learning the fact that she was pregnant with his child.

But because of his extreme thirst for revenge, she lost her child and ended up being nearly dying.

If this child was alive, he could use this to keep her with him, whether she wanted or not. But now he lost that chance too.

His brain was embroidered with various thoughts; most of them concerning with how he could keep her with him or more precisely how could he cage her again to be him.

It might sound laughable, now he was thinking about ways of keeping her with him though even after what he did to her was inhumane, unforgivable. She was broken but it never crossed in his mind. And even the thought of amendment or repenting was also far away.

He suddenly couldn't imagine her being away from. She wasn't his property anymore, she wasn't his slave.

He was pondering but couldn't get an answer why he wanted to keep her with him. And unfortunately this thought never crossed his mind either that if she would be willing to stay with him after what he had done to her or not.

Adam's twisted, fucked up brain was busy plotting new ways to cage Fiona again.

She can stay here, with me. No, she will stay with me. I will not let her go. She doesn't need to know anything, I will not say. Whatever happens, she is staying, I will make her.

I will do whatever needs to be done for this. I am already a monster to her. What difference it will make if I have to be a bigger monster than I already am to keep her here? I will become.

Adam determined clenching his jaw.

Few hours later,

"Her heart rate is still very low. She hadn't regained her consciousness yet. We have to wait, apart from the risky abortion, patient's physical condition is very weak. Examining her body, we think she was exposed to rape, physical abuse. She must have been starved and beaten. You can see her if you wish." Saying, the doctor exited her room checking her vitals for the final time.

Adam pulled the chair near the hospital bed and sat on it. He observed Fiona's body carefully. She was still looking pale as white. Her body which was almost deducted to skin and bone, was covered by a loose hospital uniform. Her finger nails of both hands were broken, causing bleeding. So they were bandaged.

She looked like a corpse. Anyone would say she was dead if not heard the faint, slow beeping sound from the heart monitor.

Her eyes were sunken deeply in the hollow, her jaw bone was jutting out, chapped lips were bloodlessly white. Her collarbone was frighteningly jutting out.

Even ten days ago, her broken appearance made him happy. But today, he was getting a strange type of feeling.

Fear?

Guilt?

But Adam Knight didn't care. He left the hospital and returned his mansion.

That girl was broken for nothing, scapegoat of his revenge.

He took off his clothes and headed inside the bathroom for shower. Cold water was running from the shower but it didn't cool his nerve.

He decided not to inform her that Brian and his son were alive. They were dead to her and would be forever, they are not even her real father or brother.

He knew that Fiona would never want to stay with him, after what he had done to her. He would make her depend only on him. To live she would have to stay with him whether she liked or not.

But Adam's insensitive mind slipped one possibility that sometimes death is preferable to life. And It might also be Fiona's case.

Next day,

Adam got a call from hospital that Fiona has woke up. He quickly ran to the hospital.

He entered Fiona's room and she was lying on the bed. Adam went near her but her eyes were still closed, he wanted to say something or call her but stopped.

"Doctor, what's wrong? You told me she woke up."

"Mr Knight. Yes, she woke up but after waking up, she asked a question. Do you know what it was?" The doctor said to Adam.

Adam frowned in curiosity.

She opened her eyes very slowly, eyelids fluttering in the process.

The doctor went yo her side quickly and asked.

"You are in the hospital. How are you feeling?"

"Am I alive?" She asked the doctor in a very low voice, with a confused look lingered on her face. Her eyes were tired and blank.

The doctor nodded. "Yeah, you are."

Her blue eyes which seemed almost deadly, watered slowly at the revealation.

"Why am I still alive?" She cried in a barely audible, broken voice, her chest tightened in pain. She didn't want to live anymore.

What else was left for her in this life anyway? Soon after that she began hyperventilating, her heart was beating abnormally fast.

So doctors quickly injected a sedative in her IV.

Adam heard what the doctors said. His forehead creased in deeper frown.

"Mr. Knight, I highly suggest you to see a psychiatrist for her. The abuse she went through might have left severe mental trauma in her. She will wake up soon again."

"And we have the USG report of her lower abdomen as well well. The drug which was used, it's prohibited to sell in the pharmacies. This drug has been proven to be a significant reason in patient morbidity and mortality. Fortunately, patient is alive. But..."

"But what?" Adam queried.

"Her uterus and uterine tube have been damaged and weakened. She must take proper madication for this condition of her or else she may become infertile. But nothing to worry, we have already diagnosed her problem and began the medication. You have to make sure she takes this medicine one year." The doctor ssuggested.

This revealation was way too much for Adam.

Adam didn't say anything, he just looked around the hospital room. Suddenly he was feeling claustrophopic. It was a spacious VIP hospital cabin.

Fiona looked like all the flesh and blood were sucked out of her body leaving her only in dry bones.

He didn't understand what to do, he couldn't stay all day in the hospital, he had other important works to do too.

Seven Hours Later,

Adam was typing on his phone sitting beside Fiona's bed when his eyes darted towards Fiona's skinny right hand. Her index finger stirred a bit. His eyes fell on his face, her eye lids fluttered, she opened eyes very slowly.

Her deadly relaxed eyes panicked when they found HIM sitting beside her. A sudden onslaught of fear engulfed her, he was here, again. Dread settled in her soul.

The heart monitor was beeping in a high speed suddenly indicating her fast heart beat. She couldn't believe she would have to face this monster again right after opening her eyes.

He would hurt her.

Adam stood up from the chair but couldn't understand what to say. He tried to say something but didn't. He realized that his presence was making her scared and it was slipping out of his hand. The beeping of the heart monitor increased abnormally, Fiona's body was shaking while eyes were stayed rooted at him, bulging out of the socket. She looked petrified to the very core.

Adam pushed the red button beside her bed.

Two doctors rushed inside the room.

"She woke up?" One of them asked.

"Oh God, she is again hyperventilating. This time it's worse. Please, Sir. Wait outside." Another doctor told Adam. But he didn't go.

But Fiona's shaking body suddenly stilled, she stopped shaking. Sheremoved her gaze from Adam and looked at the ceiling of the hospital room.

Fast beeping sound of her heart monitor decreased.

"Hey, are you okay? are you okay?" The doctor asked her.

Neither she said anything nor she looked at them. Her eyes stayed rooted at the white ceiling.

Slowly tears began falling from the corners of her both eyes, rolling down her cheeks soaking the pillow.

"Can you listen? How are you now?" The doctor asked again. Fiona lay there unresponsive looking at the ceiling.

"Miss are you listening? Can you hear me?" The doctor standing beside questioned but Fiona did the same, no answer.

The two doctors exchanged exact same worried look between them and turned to Adam.
