Doomsday crisis: I can level up

Chapter 1 Maya System

Today is the 3rd of April, 2012, at twelve thirty-eight in the afternoon. According to the astronomical observatory's prediction, there will be a meteor shower passing through the Earth's upper atmosphere. Fang Chong, having nothing to do, sits on the sofa and watches the news on CCTV News Channel for thirty minutes.

"However, in broad daylight, even if there is a meteor shower passing through the Earth's atmosphere, can we see it? The news reports nowadays are becoming more and more unreliable," Fang Chong said leisurely. He had seen many news channels broadcasting such news for several days. However, in broad daylight, can we really see a meteor shower? Fang Chong is quite dismissive of this.

But online, many people are still broadcasting, and some, whether alarmist or satirical, even claim that this meteor shower will bring catastrophic disaster to humanity.

Regarding such news, Fang Chong just smiles.

"There is about ten minutes left. Now we can see very clearly through the high-definition astronomical telescope," the TV continues to play the introduction of the beautiful female anchor.

Fang Chong gets up and opens the curtains of the window, skeptically looking at the sky outside.

Although he doesn't really believe that you can see a meteor shower in broad daylight, curiosity still exists.

And just now, Fang Chong also saw from the TV screen that there really are densely packed things flying like stones from beyond the Earth.

"Drip, drip."

The clock on the wall keeps ticking.

"It's twelve forty-seven." As time slowly approaches, Fang Chong watches the sky attentively.

It is at this moment that the previously boundless blue sky suddenly undergoes earth-shattering changes.

The wind roars, and the bright sky suddenly darkens.

"Could it be that the heavens are really so kind?" Fang Chong looks at the sky, which has now become as dark as night, with some disbelief.

And looking down the street from the window, many people are standing on the street, looking at the sky covered in black, with thick smiles on their faces.

To be able to see a meteor shower in broad daylight, and it is the largest one in history, no one on Earth would miss it.

"Drip," a long sound, it's already twelve forty-eight.

At this moment, Fang Chong no longer has the mood to look at the clock on the wall of his own house.

Outside the window, a bright and exceptional 'light ball' suddenly appears in the black sky, trailing a long tail across the horizon.

"So beautiful." Fang Chong, standing in front of the triple window, can clearly hear the cheers of the people on the street below.

Initially, there was only one, then two.

But as time passes, more and more meteors appear in Fang Chong's line of sight.

It is at this moment that the previously cheering and beautiful people are a bit scared. The sound of meteors rubbing against the atmosphere and the increasing number of meteor showers, coupled with the changing colors of the once black sky, now a strange blood-red, brings a burst of fear from the heart. It resembles scenes from an apocalyptic movie.

Suddenly, a meteor that just passed through the sky is unexpectedly heading towards the ground.

A huge fireball enlarges in Fang Chong's pupils, and in that instant, he can even feel the heat rushing towards him.

Before Fang Chong could regain his senses, the huge fireball had disappeared from his field of vision. With a loud noise and an earthquake-like tremor, Fang Chong knew that the fireball had exploded in the city where they lived.

And with such an event, the crowd that was just cheering a moment ago starts to panic. The joyful laughter disappears instantly, replaced by the sounds of panic and children crying.

"What's going on?" Although Fang Chong did not see where the huge fireball fell just now, he knew by the sound and strong vibrations that the falling point was not far from where he lived.

Fang Chong regained his composure and turned to look at the live broadcast on CCTV. News is the best way to understand sudden events, and the special report on the meteor shower's visit to Earth was still playing on the screen just now. He believes that with such a significant event happening in the city he is in, many national departments can monitor it.

And the TV is the fastest way to comfort the people.

However, things are not as Fang Chong imagined. When he turned his head, the clear LCD screen that was playing the news is now covered with gray snowflakes.

"Could it be true, as the internet says, that today is the end of the world?" Fang Chong, seeing this, had such a thought. If it were in normal times, he would definitely scold himself as an idiot, but now he is somewhat inclined to believe it.

"Dong."

Another loud noise, the violent vibration almost made Fang Chong fall to the ground. After stabilizing his body, Fang Chong found that outside, a fiery light was rising. Without thinking, Fang Chong rushed to the window to look.

Although it was a chaotic scene, Fang Chong still noticed that outside the window, more meteors were falling from the sky. This time, they were even closer to him.

"What should I do?" Standing in front of the window and looking at the flickering fire outside, Fang Chong felt anxious.

At the age of just over twenty-two, ultimately, he is just a big child. His parents passed away early, leaving him quite a bit of property, and now he relies on renting it out to make a living.

For more than twenty years, a plain and ordinary life has made him a bit at a loss when encountering such a thing for the first time.

It's not okay to go out, and it's not okay to stay at home.

If it's an earthquake, going to an open space outside is a guarantee of safety, but now it's different. Looking at the meteor shower still passing through the sky, who knows when another one will fall.

Fang Chong looks at the blood-red sky with dull eyes.

"Drip."

"Is it not?" Fang Chong was startled by the loud sound produced by the intense friction. A fireball with a diameter of a meter is actually flying towards the window where he is standing.

In the line of sight, it keeps getting bigger.

This sudden fireball surprised Fang Chong. He picked up something unknown on the ground as a weapon while standing up, but after standing up, the quiet room was silent, and Fang Chong was a bit confused.

"The 'host' only needs to immerse his spiritual power in his mind to see me." Just when Fang Chong thought he was going crazy, that voice appeared again.

"I am in your body, 'host.' Just immerse your spiritual power in your mind," the voice continued, cold and numb.

"In my body?" Fang Chong was shocked, as if he had received a heavy bomb. He jumped up from the ground and even picked up something unknown from the ground as a weapon.

But after standing up, the quiet room was silent, and Fang Chong was a bit confused.

"The 'host' only needs to immerse his spiritual power in his mind to see me." Just when Fang Chong thought he was going crazy, that voice appeared again.

"What's going on?" Fang Chong, hearing the voice again, calmed down. At

this point, he finally confirmed that there really is something inside his body.

Helplessly scratching his head, Fang Chong really concentrated his mind.

"Not trying, not knowing. Trying it out is shocking." Fang Chong didn't really believe in the existence of spiritual power, but now, when he concentrated his mind, he really felt something in his mind.

As the concentration of the mind increased, the things in the mind became clearer.

"Maya System welcomes the host." Ding, a light sound, as if a door was opened by Fang Chong.

Consciousness enters it. The voice that guided Fang Chong into his mind appears again.

With the appearance of this voice, Fang Chong sees a room full of metallic sense.

"Maya System." Fang Chong hears incomprehensible words again.

'Host,' 'Maya System,' what do these words mean?

And who is the owner of this voice?

Suddenly, countless questions appeared in Fang Chong's mind.
