Chapter 3 Fusion

"What are you?" Reason finally overcame fear. After standing foolishly for a few minutes, Fang Chong finally calmed down. Now is not the time to be afraid; survival is the goal.

"The Maya system is a recently developed upgrade system from the 'Fifth Civilization,' currently in the testing phase," Maya's voice remained icy.

"Fifth Civilization, testing phase." These terms seemed familiar to Fang Chong, perhaps from online novels. However, they were not the most important for humans. What he wanted to understand was the current state of the world, how the Maya system entered his body, and how he could better survive. These were the crucial questions.

"How did you enter my body?" After organizing his thoughts, Fang Chong asked. According to human exploration of the solar system, there was no discovery of other life forms.

Based on his knowledge of popular science, Fang Chong knew that what had happened today was beyond his comprehension. The most likely explanation was that he could gain a clear understanding through the Maya system.

"The Zark clan attacked our planet, and I am their plundered spoils. However, under the powerful artillery attack of the 'Maya Civilization,' the Zark clan suffered heavy losses. In the chaos, the coordinates of the wormhole were disturbed, leading to our appearance in this galaxy, entering Earth as the remnants of the Zark clan," Maya explained each word.

"Zark clan?" Fang Chong heard a new term, but this time he wasn't surprised. The 'Zark clan' in Maya's system should be those extraterrestrial life forms.

"How many of them are there?" Thinking about the fact that the outside world is now dominated by zombies, if there are also a large number of Zark clan members, then humanity on Earth is truly at its end.

"The data is incomplete. The energy of the Maya system is insufficient, unable to cover the entire Earth," Maya once again didn't give Fang Chong face, encountering a problem in addressing an important question.

"Damn," Fang Chong couldn't help but curse.

"Maya, what is your primary function?" Fang Chong was frustrated by the Maya system today and almost felt like shutting it down.

After suppressing his anger, Fang Chong asked. From Maya's description of the situation earlier, she should be the latest invention of the Maya civilization. Otherwise, why would the Zark clan, desperately fleeing, bring him along?

"Maya is just a system, and the primary function is unclear," Maya said. She completely ignored Fang Chong's somewhat hungry expression.

"Uh."

Fang Chong's face was full of black lines.

But thinking that the Maya system is still in the testing phase, most of his anger dissipated.

"May I ask if the host wants to undergo fusion?" Just as Fang Chong was considering whether to continue questioning, Maya this time spoke without him asking.

"What is fusion?" Fang Chong was somewhat surprised that the Maya system took the initiative to speak.

"Fusion with the Maya system."

"Are there any benefits?" Fang Chong didn't know why he asked such a question, but intuition told him that choosing fusion would be beneficial.

"In the future, as the host's level increases, assistance from the system and the gift of large packages can be obtained," Maya system was straightforward this time, stating it directly.

"What is the increase in level?" Listening to Maya's explanation, it seemed like there were quite a few benefits.

"The enhancement of physical functions, including speed, strength, intelligence, and reaction ability," Maya system explained in great detail.

"The increase in level can ensure that the host has a greater chance of survival in the apocalypse."

"Greater chance of survival?" Fang Chong, who initially felt depressed, suddenly became calm. If not for fusion, he would be an idiot.

But why did the Maya system choose him? Fang Chong was puzzled; "Could it be that I have exceptional talent?"

Thinking of this, Fang Chong felt somewhat self-satisfied.

"Please make a decision, host." While Fang Chong was indulging in self-satisfaction, Maya system reminded him.

"Choose fusion." Fang Chong didn't consider much, biting the bullet and making a decision.

"Maya Fusion System activated, Host Fang Chong." As Fang Chong's voice fell, the Maya system activated.

"Fusion degree, one percent, two percent."

Listening to the Maya system reporting the fusion degree, Fang Chong's mood was unexpectedly calm. As time passed second by second, a few minutes later.

"Drip." The elongated sound echoed loudly in the small room.

"Maya system and Host Fang Chong have completed fusion, fusion degree one hundred percent." Hearing the sound of the Maya system, Fang Chong breathed a sigh of relief.

"Maya, why did you choose to fuse with me?" Fang Chong, happy but thinking of his previous vain thoughts, asked. "Could it be that I have an exceptionally excellent physique?"

"Host can check for yourself." The Maya system did not directly tell Fang Chong the answer, but some data appeared on the three-dimensional screen.

"Is this my data?" Fang Chong looked eagerly. However, seeing the data on it, Fang Chong's expression became less pleasant.

"Weak physical function."

"Weak reaction ability."

"Slow speed."

"Weak strength."

"Average intelligence."

Looking at the clear and straightforward data, Fang Chong's expression seemed exceptionally stiff.

"No way? Although I'm a bit petite, I'm over 1.7 meters tall and quite handsome," Fang Chong muttered to himself.

Looking at the unbearable data, Fang Chong could only comfort himself like this.

"Excellent potential?" After looking at several pieces of data that were quite a blow, Fang Chong had no the same enthusiasm as before. However, seeing the word 'excellent' in potential and 'average' in intelligence, he seemed to see a harbor in the storm, and his eyes lit up.

"Brother seems to be not useless after all, at least with unlimited potential," Fang Chong said in a somewhat self-deprecating tone.

"Maya, why are all my data except potential and intelligence better a little? It's dismal," after looking at all the data, Fang Chong asked the Maya system.

Although 'excellent potential' sounded good, and 'average intelligence' was acceptable, the rest was so dismal that Fang Chong couldn't feel happy.

"Host, there is no need to worry about data issues. Most Earthlings have similar data," the Maya system said.

"Really?" Fang Chong didn't expect that Maya would actually speak in a human manner. Among all the conversations with the Maya system, this sentence stood out the most.

"Now, how does my physical fitness compare to zombies?" Fang Chong suddenly thought of a crucial question.

"One against five," the Maya system replied.

"So, I don't need to be afraid of those zombies?" Fang Chong, without his dismal physical fitness, could actually take on five zombies.

"It is a human like the host who can fight five zombies," Fang Chong was happy for only a few seconds before the next words from the Maya system poured cold water on him.

"Uh."

Fang Chong staggered under his feet. Although he now appeared as a consciousness shadow in the room in his mind, he almost fell. This Maya system was really good

 at discouraging people.
