Chapter 8 Three Gift Packs

"What kind of gift packages will they be?" Fang Chong, with an excited heart, entered the inner workings of the Maya system. At the same time, he had a question: What does it mean to increase the level by two?

Soon, Fang Chong appeared inside the Maya system. However, this time, the metallic room had a few more things. Apart from the gray figure still present, there were additional items.

Three small red boxes were quietly placed there. Although the contents of the boxes were unknown at the moment, Fang Chong's excitement was palpable.

"Host, these are the gift packages you received for completing the tasks. Please take a look," the voice of the Maya system rang out even before Fang Chong could inquire.

"Maya, what's inside these gift packages?" Fang Chong walked up to the packages, not in a hurry to open them.

"Host will know when you open them later," Maya system replied without addressing Fang Chong's question directly. For the system, Fang Chong's question seemed somewhat redundant.

"Hmm," Fang Chong didn't expect the Maya system to ignore him. For a moment, he didn't know what to say. However, considering the significant help the Maya system would provide him in the future, Fang Chong decided to endure it.

"So, what does it mean to increase the level by two?" Fang Chong, after taking a deep breath, asked again. He didn't believe that the Maya system would continue to withhold this information.

"Because the host successfully killed twenty-one extra zombies today, exceeding the task requirements. Ten zombies constitute one level," the Maya system answered in detail.

"What benefits does the increase in level bring to me?" Fang Chong, surprised by his unexpectedly good fortune, pondered the unforeseen rewards for killing a few extra zombies for his safety. However, he still didn't understand the practical implications of the levels mentioned by the Maya system.

"One level is equivalent to the strength of an adult. In simple terms, the host's current level, plus two, equals three. Therefore, the host's strength is now equivalent to that of three adults, three times what it was before," the Maya system explained clearly.

"What? The strength of three adults?" Fang Chong, after hearing the Maya system's explanation, was visibly astonished. One adult could easily lift a hundred kilograms. With three times that strength, Fang Chong could effortlessly handle three hundred kilograms. Before the apocalypse, he would have been considered a strongman.

"That's correct," the shadow formed by the Maya system nodded.

"Does this mean that if I exceed the task by killing zombies every day, my level will continue to increase?" Fang Chong, realizing the potential implications, was on the verge of jumping up. With the strength of one person, he could already defeat zombies. What would happen when facing zombies with the strength of three people?

With triple the strength, Fang Chong wouldn't need to sneak up on zombies; he could face them directly without much disadvantage.

If he could increase two levels every day, within a month, wouldn't he become invincible? Fang Chong thought happily.

"Host's physical qualities are effective up to level ten. Beyond level ten, ten times the number of zombies need to be killed," the Maya system nodded without denying.

"So, exceeding level ten requires killing ten times the number of zombies. Does that mean I need to kill a hundred zombies to increase one level?" Fang Chong felt like his dream was shattered. According to the Maya system, increasing by ten levels would require killing a thousand zombies.

Fang Chong didn't dare to calculate further. He wasn't a killer, even if it was killing zombies.

However, considering his current physical qualities were only at level three, these issues weren't something he needed to consider right now.

"But I didn't feel any difference in my body when I entered just now?" Fang Chong, coming back to reality, remembered that his body seemed the same when he entered the system.

"The level has just stacked. The host will feel it once consciousness returns to reality," the Maya system seemed to anticipate Fang Chong's question and answered it clearly.

"Oh," Fang Chong, having detailed information now, shifted his gaze to the three large red gift packages.

"Maya system is, after all, a creation of a level-five civilization. The gift packages it gives shouldn't be disappointing, right?" Fang Chong approached the large gift packages, thinking to himself.

Although the term "level-five civilization" was vague, Fang Chong had a rough understanding from the information provided by the Maya system. Even if Earth in the 21st century was considered a just-entered-level-one civilization in the eyes of Maya, Fang Chong still had high hopes for the gift packages.

Knowing that the Maya system wouldn't voluntarily disclose the contents, he had to find out for himself.

"Hopefully, it's something good." Fang Chong squatted in front of the large gift packages, carefully examining the beautifully packaged boxes.

"Swoosh." Fang Chong didn't waste time speculating.

At this point, whether it was good or bad, it was his own business.

"A book?" Fang Chong opened the first red box and was surprised to find something resembling a book. His expression instantly changed, wondering who would have the mood to read books in this zombie-infested apocalypse.

Fang Chong was almost about to scold the Maya system for being crazy. However, when he picked up the book and read the words on the pages, his dismay turned into joy.

"Survival Guide in the Apocalypse." Fang Chong held the book, not expecting such a thing to be inside the gift package. It was truly a pleasant surprise.

Giving him a book like this had far more appeal than giving him a handgun.

After two days of understanding, Fang Chong knew that the abilities of the Maya

system were beyond his imagination. This was one of the reasons why Fang Chong believed in it.

For others, believing in a person who believed in such a book would undoubtedly be considered foolish.

After taking out the survival guide, Fang Chong didn't rush to read what was inside. The first gift package had already given him a pleasant surprise, and the next two should not disappoint him under reasonable circumstances.

With an expectant heart, Fang Chong opened the second gift package.

"Storage Space."

After opening the second box, Fang Chong found that, apart from these four words, there was nothing inside. For a moment, he didn't understand what it meant.
