Chapter XV

One year later...

"A fine Romance with no kisses a fine romance my friend... We should be like a couple of hot tomatoes.

But you're as cold as yesterday's mashed potatoes."

I walked beside my father with my hand wrapped around his arm with the sound of Martha Tilton and Jonny Mercer's voices played in the back ground. I looked at Bruce as he smiled with a tear falling from his left eye. My father gave his blessings and the ceremony began as we said I do as the lights flickered when I kissed Bruce. The word was given for the single ladies tp gather, I then turned around with my bouquet of roses, throwing them backwards into the crowd, than Bruce took my hand, pulling me in with a kiss. I turned around, and Linda was holding the bouquet with a smile as she held it close, smelled the roses. Peter walked behind her getting on one knee as she turned with a muffled scream. She just nodded her head as Peter took her in his arms twirling her in the air ending with a kiss. Bruce placed his hand on my cheek turning my head to him as he lifted me from the ground and kissed me. We ran out of the church holding hands laughing until we got on the car.

"A rose must remain with the sun and the rain or its lovely promise won't come true to each its own, to each its own, and my own is you..."

As the time passed and our honey moon ended Bruce took me for a drive into a new neighborhood as I rubbed my pregnant stomach.

"I know you hate the apartment but here's your new house isn't it nice? It has a big kitchen and living space just like you wanted."

He walked around the car to hold the door helping me get out as he placed the house keys in my hand and ran to stand in front of the door with his hands wide open.

"Don't worry it had a very large office so we both get our own type writers you can diffidently finish your theses there beside me. The kids can play outside you see... Theirs a fence."

I smiled at him as he jogged to the side of the house and pointed at the large white fence that covered the our new backyard. He ran to the front door and started to unlock it as I walked slowly toward him. Months passed as we worked on our school work and he started looking for new job offers in the office near by. We had long since quit the factory but, I was happy I had stayed there long enough to meet him.

"What good is the song if the words just don't belong? And a dream but be a dream for two Not good alone, To each his own for me there's you."

"Mom! Uncle is Home with Aunt Linda!"

I turned out of the kitchen as I watched Bruce Junior open the door for Peter. Bruce came walking down stairs holding our toddler Susan in his arms as she played with his collar.

"Welcome home Peter."

Peter came in holding his son Peter as another little girl came in behind him holding Linda's hand. I walked into the living room, taking a glace at both of our wedding photos which sat side by side on the shelf, as I took Susan from Bruce's arms giving him a kiss. I placed Susan down on the couch as Mary hugged my leg and I patted her head as I gave a hug to Linda.

"It's so nice of you guys to come and visit. Would you like to help me set the table?"

She nodded and Giggled a bit as we left the kids with Peter and Bruce in the living room.

"Did you hear what happened?"

"No, What happened?"

"Sam and Judith moved out of the state. No one knows why, they just packed up their stuff and left."

"Leave them be." As I laughed

They deserve to be happy too! They didn't find happiness here, but their happiness might be elsewhere... let them go."

Linda glared at me with a smile as she took the meal to the center of the table and we heard another knock at the door.

Mary and Susan went running to the window, laughing as they stumbling to the floor. Then the boys walked to the window to see who was standing outside. I blinked and all the kids took off running to open the door. Bruce pulled the kids away from the door and opened it himself as two hands took him in with a big hug.

"Hey Bruce, where are my niece and nephew?"

I smiled at Sandra as she smiled at me and waved from the door, bending down for hugs and kisses by Bruce and Susan. She then opened her arms wide, waving at Peter and Mary to come to her for their turns. She looked so happy to be covered by the children as Linda just smiled, resting her hands on the chair.

"She's so cute with to the kids isn't she?"

I just nodded taking a breath and asking everyone to take a seat as I turned, looking at my parents picture hanging on the wall beside me. Still so grateful that they at least got to meet them before they passed. Today was so special, for we made food and put music on for everyone to dance, but I still felt awful, just knowing that they weren't here anymore. If I had known what I know now I would've convinced them not to go to Japan that year, for the radiation was still so strong that they didn't make it long after they arrived home. I felt a tear fall from my eyes and as I felt Bruce hug me from behind.

"You, Okay?"

I nodded as I turned and he wiped the tear from my face. He pulled my chair so I could sit and called everyone in to eat since everything was prepared.

"You cook everything Donna?"

"No, she didn't Peter I helped her. I made the onion cheese super bread and boiled the Ann page sparkle gelatin. She made the real mayonnaise tuna salad and washed the dishes."

Linda smiled as Peter glared and exhaled moving his head side to side until Linda rubbed his shoulder.

"You see you could also help cook."

"I do I clean the kitchen after your done."

He smiled all happily and turned to help Bruce as they placed the kids in their chairs to eat and I served them with Linda's help.

"I get it Peter, I clean the stove once I'm done too."

Peter's whole smile left, he paused then started laughing.

"Aren't you the perfect Cinderella! Why don't you serve me some coffee?"

"I would love to dude? due to your in my house..."

"Oh cut the crap."

We all started laughing as Peter got up and pulled a seat for Linda to sit, taking the plate she was holding in her hand and placed it in front of her as he finished serving everyone, making sure we were all seated.

"By the way Peter did you like the movie Cinderella? I mean it came out a bit ago but my daughter loves it."

"Me too uncle!"

Sandra laughed as she heard Mary shout it out and the boys just stuck their tongues out.

"If a flame is to grow there must be a glow; to open each door, there's a key. I need you, I know, I can't let you go your touch means too much to me."
