Chapter 22 Contractual Marriage

After saying that, Su Muzhi ignored Fu Jinrong and looked directly at Jiang Jing. With a smile, he asked, "Why isn't auntie here today?"

Su Muzhi's auntie was Jiang Jing's mother, the mother of Jiang.

Jiang Jing thought of the reason why her mother couldn't come, and sadness filled her heart again. She blinked desperately, trying to hold back her tears.

"Brother, something happened to my dad. My mom was in a bad mood, so I told her to have a rest at home." Jiang Jing said with a feigned understatement.

Su Muzhi frowned, "What happened to my uncle?"

He knew that the mother of Jiang had always been indifferent to fame and wealth, and she didn't take anything too seriously. Over the years, the only time he saw her cry was when she divorced Jiang Zhongyong, so he really didn't know what could make her so upset.

"My dad, he passed away this morning." Jiang Jing said it with difficulty, and the defence in her heart was gradually collapsing. Fu Jinrong gently hugged her from the back, hoping to give her strength with his own body.

Upon hearing that, Su Muzhi almost sat up from his bed in shock, "What? Uncle has passed away? How could this be? This is too sudden!"

Jiang Jing shook her head in pain, "No one had expected that. It was a cerebral hemorrhage, so my mom couldn't accept it at all."

After saying that, she leaned her head on Fu Jinrong's shoulder and sobbed quietly.

Su Muzhi warned himself to ignore their intimacy. He lay on the hospital bed, stared at Jiang Jing, and deliberately ignored Fu Jinrong. To him, this man named Fu Jinrong was the most eye-offending creature in this ward.

"Jingjing, don't be too sad. Uncle will definitely live a good life in another world. He just went there a little earlier than me. I think I'll also be there soon."

Su Muzhi wanted to use his health to distract Jiang Jing. After all, seeing her in such a painful state, he also felt bad.

After Su Muzhi said that, Jiang Jing quickly left Fu Jinrong's arms. She walked to his bed and wiped away her tears, "What nonsense are you talking about, Muzhi? You'll be fine. You have to believe me."

Su Muzhi saw tears in the corner of Jiang Jing's eyes. He raised his thin arm and tried to wipe them away with his thumb, but his body was too weak to support him. Although he tried hard, he failed to reach her cheeks at the end.

Noticing his action, she quickly lowered her head and wiped the tears off.

Then she looked up at him and smiled brightly, "Brother, I've grown up, but I still cry like a child. Sorry."

Su Muzhi also smiled slightly, but heartfeltly. His eyes were full of smiles, which were as attractive as shining stars in the sky.

"No matter how old you are, in front of me, you can still cry and laugh whenever you want. We don't need extra words and expressions between us. Do you understand, Jing?"

He stared at Jiang Jing, looking forward to her answer.

For some reason, Jiang Jing felt that his words were a little strange, but she just nodded and said to him, "Brother, I know that you are my kinsfolk and my best brother."

"By the way, how are you feeling lately? Are you feeling better?" Jiang Jing looked at Su Muzhi's face carefully and found that it was still pale. There was no sign of improvement or deterioration.

Su Muzhi smiled miserably, "There's nothing good or bad. I just take the medicine to renew my life." Then, as if thinking of something, he murmured to Jiang Jing with self-loathing, "If you hadn't promised grandfather that you would marry to..."

"Fu Jinrong, can you buy me a bottle of water? I'm thirsty." Jiang Jing interrupted Su Muzhi and asked Fu Jinrong to buy her a bottle of water.

Fu Jinrong knew that Jiang Jing was just sending him away on a pretext. She wasn't really thirsty. Although he wasn't interested in listening to their private conversation, he heard vaguely that Su seemed to have mentioned the word "Marry."

Would his next words have something to do with him?

Fu Jinrong was puzzled, but he knew that since Jiang Jing didn't want him to listen carefully, he would rather go out. Although he always felt that this "brother" was somewhat strange, he believed that Jiang Jing could handle it properly.

So he nodded, "Okay, I want coffee too. I'll buy it for you at the coffee shop across the street. Just stay here and talk to your brother."

Fu Jinrong gently closed the door of the ward. When Su Muzhi saw Jiang Jing still looking at the door reluctantly, he couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? Do you really fall in love with him?"

Jiang Jing's thoughts were pulled back by Su Muzhi's voice. She shook her head subconsciously, "What are you talking about? How can it be? That's a contractual marriage. There's no love between us."

Su Muzhi shook his head, "You said there is no love between you two, but how do you know his thought?"

Su Muzhi's words reminded Jiang Jing of Fu Jinrong company today, whether in the hospital where her father died or in the small apartment where her mother lived, he had given her the most important warmth.

It had to be said that for Jiang Jing at this moment, Fu Jinrong was her greatest spiritual sustenance.

But he was Fu Jinrong. How could he put his true feelings into a contractual marriage?

Jiang Jing still shook her head, "It's impossible, brother. Don't think about it. Fu Jinrong and I won't have true love. We're just taking it one step at a time and see how far we get. When we find Ruru, I'll get out of this right away."

Su Muzhi knew that the reason why Jiang Jing agreed to marry Fu Jinrong was to save the Jiang Corporation and to find Jiang Ru. In addition, she wanted to ask old master Jiang to pay for Su Muzhi's treatment bill in exchange for that.

Su Muzhi felt very helpless when he thought that the medicine he used to prolong his life now was exchanged for Jiang Jing's happiness for the rest of her life.

"If it weren't for me, you might not have to marry him." Su Muzhi whispered.
