Chapter 31 Funeral

Three days later, a farewell ceremony for Jiang Zhongyong was held at the Longshan Funeral Home.

This farewell ceremony attracted the attention of all the major media in the city, and all TV stations carried their cameras for live interviews.

Jiang Jing and Fu Jinrong arrived at the funeral parlor early in the morning. Jiang Zhongheng had basically arranged everything, and there was a special funeral company to plan and prepare for it. Jiang Jing and Fu Jinrong were basically "standing by" as well.

"Grandpa." Jiang Jing saw Jiang Jingrun, who had arrived early. Jiang Jingrun hobbled up to them with his walking stick, completely devoid of the domineering spirit he had in the business filed in the past.

It turned out that no matter how proud a person was, he was so helpless and lonely at his child's funeral.

Jiang Jingrun nodded and looked at Fu Jinrong beside Jiang Jing, "Fu, thank you this time."

"Grandpa, what are you talking about? As Ru's husband, what I did was almost insignificant." Fu Jinrong bowed slightly and politely responded to Jiang Jingrun's words.

Although Jiang Jingrun knew that Jiang Jing married Fu Jinrong in place of Jiang Ru, Fu Jinrong knew this clearly and did not intend to point it out. He even felt that without the help of Jiang Jingrun, Jiang Jing would not be able to marry him.

In a sense, Jiang Jingrun had helped Fu Jinrong a lot.

"No one else is coming?" Jiang Jingrun seemed to have looked around Jiang Jing carefully, but he did not find the figure he wanted to see.

Jiang Jing saw her grandfather looking around at her. She held some hopes and wondered whether her grandpa wanted her mother to come to this funeral as well.

Jiang Jing nodded, "Grandpa, my mom will be here soon."

Before Jiang Jingrun could say anything, Jiang Zhongheng, who had been standing by and not saying anything, immediately said, "Mom? Ru, your father divorced your mother when you were very young. He had no wife."

Jiang Jing gritted her teeth. From the time he told her mother that Ru was missing and she was forced to marry Fu Jinrong, Jiang Jing knew that Jiang Zhongheng had long known that she was not Jiang Ru. But now he was calling her "Ru", acting like he was kind.

This Jiang Zhongheng was not as simple as she thought. There must be a huge secret and an ambition hidden behind him.

"Second uncle, my father might be single according to law now. But I have a mother. Even if I haven't seen her for a long time, she's still my only mother. She was once my father's wife." Jiang Jing frowned and explained the reason why her mother should come to her father's funeral word by word.

Jiang Zhongheng knew that he had no real reason to stop Jiang Jingrun from agreeing to let mother of Jiang attend the funeral, but he could not let her succeed so easily. He was desperate and prepared to make the final struggle.

"Dad, listen to me. I don't think Ru's mother is suitable for the funeral." Jiang Zhongheng explained, pretending to be considerate and upright.

Jiang Jingrun was curious. Jiang Zhongheng had never had much interest in family matters. Why would he care so much about whether his brother's ex-wife would come to the funeral today?

"Oh, what's wrong? Why do you think she shouldn't come?"

When Jiang Zhongheng saw that Jiang Jingrun was willing to listen to his explanation, he immediately felt the opportunity. He looked into Jiang Jingrun's eyes and could hardly contain the excitement in his heart.

"Eldest brother didn't tell us the reason for his divorce. But after all, they broke up through legal procedures. I think there must be some reasons why brother got divorced with her. And he wasn't willing to tell anyone about it, so I think he definitely didn't want her to appear at his funeral."

Jiang Zhongheng seemed to have a clear explanation. From Jiang Jingrun's face, she found he seemed to agree with Jiang Zhongheng very much, which made her feel a little flustered.

"What can I do?" Jiang Jing thought to herself. She must let her mother be able to come to her father's funeral.

At this moment, Fu Jinrong opened his mouth, "Grandpa, I have different views on this. Do you want to hear me?"

"Oh? You have a thought? Very well, tell me." Jiang Jingrun would never give up easily on wining over Fu Jinrong. In his eyes, Fu Jinrong was not only the son-in-law of the Jiang family, but also the only backing for the revival of the Jiang family.

Fu Jinrong curved his lips slightly, "Second uncle seems to be right, but can we put ourselves in dad's position to think about it? This is dad's funeral and the last memory that dad would leave in this world. Why must we distinguish between good and bad? All memories are valuable, aren't they?"

After that, Fu Jinrong paused. He pointed at the guests in the hall with his right hand and continued, "Grandpa, these people are all dad's friends, classmates, and colleagues. How can you be sure that dad appreciated and liked all of them? But can we not let anyone attend this final farewell ceremony because they are not deeply liked by dad?!"

Jiang Jingrun paused for several seconds and shook his head firmly, "No, this is absolutely impossible. As long as they come, they are our guests. As long as they come to Yong's funeral, no matter who they are or what kind of conflict they have with Yong, I will not reject them."

"Then do we have any reason to stop mom from attending? And I think we should let mom stand in the main position in the farewell ceremony. To let others know that dad was a person with a complete family, or else dad might feel something missing when walking to the Heaven." Fu Jinrong thought that Jiang Jingrun would allow mother of Jiang to come to the funeral.

Sure enough, Jiang Jingrun only thought for half a minute before nodding, "All right, I agree."

"Dad, I think..." Jiang Zhongheng still wanted to explain, but Jiang Jingrun stopped him directly, "You should go and treat the guests. You have a hard day. There are too many guests. It's not proper to just let the young generation like Ru and Fu to entertain them. Thank you."

Since it's all settled, Jiang Zhongheng had to swallow the words in his stomach. He could only nod and agree, and then went to entertain guests from all over the country.

Jiang Jing hesitated for a while and said to Jiang Jingrun, "Grandpa, actually, my mother has been waiting outside the door. She didn't come over easily because she didn't want to upset you."

The three of them had discussed how to get mother of Jiang to show up at the funeral yesterday evening. Mother of Jiang said that she would only come in if Jiang Jing's grandfather agreed. After all, the old man was in poor health, so she couldn't let him suffer anymore.
